i would have really liked to keep using SFos,
but as the appsupport/license for the Xperia V was getting delayed and my Xperia XA2 was barely functioning,i went ahead with the GrapheneOS route.
on top of that i faced a new challenge with SFOS the other day as i went to pick a package from an automatic locker where:
1.i needed to have Chrome(solvable)
2.chrome(or their webpage) needed access to Bluetooth in order for this locker to recognize the device/location for it to open.
i hate this system but i had no choice and went back later accompanied by a person with a regular phone.
this era has become more automated and challenging for not supported devices(an 85 years old acquaintance just got a smartphone to be able to order a Taxi)
i hope the future advancement of SF will keep up and I’ll be able to use it again.
i know (just came to check on the forum and saw it)
but i couldn’t know in advance since no timeline is posted by the team and i waited as much as my current phone could(it barely charges anymore).
also this wouldn’t have solved the fact that Android app support does not include Bluetooth(pass-through).
That’s a common thing. For over 10 years they’ve been promising they’d get better at communication. Meanwhile they only got better at making promises.
Interesting, I was also tempted by GrapheneOS, but I immediatly became to hate the Pixel hardware upon check in a shop.
In my perspective even significantly more ugly than the iPhone I needed to use with my previous employer…
So in the end for me a no-go route…
Was this only because how it looks like or other reasons?
TLDR: A friend also changed to GOS out of similar reasons like @jub , he is happy with GOS and told me that everything’s working fine.
I also think of changing to GOS to have a save phone without limitations + VoLTE, but in any case will keep my good old SF phone as second device and pocket computer, media player, webradio, e-book, router, tinkerphone,…
Look and feel only, so a very personal view.
I just felt the desire to smash it against the wall as hard as I can.
Never felt such a strong idiosyncrasy towards a device…
Pixel 8 and 9 were the ugly ones, I did not check older devices.
Right now on Volla Quintus as primary device, with Volla OS. Next month is dual boot expected, then with SFOS (hopefully).
Currently I can use the 10 V anyway not as daily driver because of dim screen, only indoor use in south west Europe possible with current blob disaster
