UK Banking Apps/Walt

Hi everyone,

Question for someone in the UK who has tried installing the Nationwide or Starling banking apps. If so how well did it function

Also has anyone tried installing the Walt payment app. I appreciate it’s still early days for this and has only basic functions at the moment, but could be the alternative some of are after.

Nationwide app works: installs from Aurora Store, enrolls and logs in.

I haven’t done anything else with the app.

Starling doesn’t seem to work for me. The app doesn’t load at all.

Elsewhere in this forum someone has noted a method to edit the ‘install from’ field (in this instance from Aurora to Google Play Store), but I haven’t tried this.

As an alternative there is an unofficial native app, which requires you to request an API token from Starling: Starling Bank client (unofficial) | OpenRepos.net — Community Repository System

I’d never heard of Walt, it does install OK, but I don’t think the card payment functionality is there yet, all you can seem to do is add Passes right now.

Thanks for that, especially the workaround for Starling. Early days for Walt, I believe it only does passes for now with payments function rolling out into next year depending on location.

I am the developer of that unofficial Starling client. Also, I am using the app of course. :slight_smile:

With a recent update to version 1.1. all functionalities are there now. Blame Starling for the few limitations the app suffer but otherwise it is a normal banking app. Try and see.
