activating/deactivating power saving mode does not have any effect on performance tuning items like clock rates etc.

It would follow from this that

1. the issue is specific to the XA2, at least I don’t see this effect on my devices.
2. it is unrelated to Sailfish OS Power Save mode.

You could re-flash to stock android and verify the issue is there also.
