Trouble with Mail

on my XA2 Ultra and from 5.0.O.68 version
in the Mail app every time i choose Update from the pulley menu
the phone goes in endless loop with “Updating” showing in the upper right corner of the screen
if i kill the app and restart it everything goes fine
new mails if any are showing straight away

in automatic mode new mails if any are downloaded fine

is that a normal behavior???

That endless loop is definitely annoying. Have you tried clearing the tracker database or just restarting the mail-cleaner service via Terminal? Sometimes the metadata gets a bit stuck on the XA2. If killing the app fixes it temporarily, it sounds like the sync process is finishing but the pulley menu status isn’t getting the ‘done’ signal back.

I occasionally get an endless loop like that and a reboot always solves it, my guess is the underlying fetch thread gets stuck never had time to really look into it.

I also had this problem once.
I screenshoted, then deleted the mail accounts in Settings.
After a reboot, I recreated the accounts and since then, it’s working.

In germany we like to say: “reboot tut gut” (reboot does good).

I get a similar problem with my exchange account from time to time, then i check the following

  • go to settings → accounts and make sure your MS account is still signed in,
  • from the terminal (dev mode) run systemctl --user restart sailfish-eas optional
  • from settings utilities, restart home screen that also helps

if none of those works, then reboot ;-(
