Tractive GPS on Sailfish

Hi there,

I am a very new Sailfish user, and I should say first that I have very little technical knowledge. While waiting for the new Jolla phone, I decided to buy a second-hand Xperia XA2 and put Sailfish on it. For my daily life, -almost- everything works perfectly, except that I need the Tractive app to monitor my herd with GPS (I am a shepherd). But I cannot install it on my phone. Does anyone else use this app or has found a way to use it with Sailfish? It is a quite popular one for cats and dogs so let’s hope.

I searched the forum and found nothing.

I could install it but did not get it work on Xperia 10 II. I do not have those devices either. Hopefully you get a solution.

Installs, starts and runs on my XA2 with MicroG.

I created an account, completed the setup wizard, could not enable Bluetooth (yet), got a notification that some features are unavailable.

Edit: I got it to work on the 10 III, too. I had (stupidly) signed up with Google on the XA2, so I had to use Google on the 10 III, too, because I didn’t have a password. It turned out that the app didn’t sign in to Google but instead read that info from the MicroG Settings which I hadn’t configured.

You mean you installed ”G separately, or you just enabled “”G services” in AAS settings?

Yes, the old-fashioned way with adding the repo to F-Droid.

I know this is an old topic, but I thought I’d update it with current information.

  • Tested on Jolla Phone 2026 with Android App Support, Tractive version 26.33.0
  • The Android App itself works fine: I can track my dog, update settings, 

  • I couldn’t get bluetooth to work. It tries to “Turn on Bluetooth” and fails. This means that all of the ‘newer’ features such as heart rate tracking, 
 don’t work.

I don’t quite remember how setting up the tracker out of the box worked but I suspect that Bluetooth is also required for that step.

Thank you, Same here, with new Jolla Phone 2026 everything works fine except the Bluetooth.

I have Tractive working as well, except Bluetooth
