There is also a way to enable the Quick App Switching gesture without using the Terminal:

  1. Get the Edge Swipe Control app by @nephros from Chum (Edge Swipe Control — SailfishOS:Chum, a Sailfish OS software repository by the community)
  2. Open the Settings app, section Look and feel. Tap Edge Swipe
  3. Pull down menu, select Experimental Settings, and toggle Quick App Switching
