Sudden performance drops when performing a second action in running apps

Hi, while using SFOS in daily use, I noticed this: for example, when using an Android app, like a social media app or any app you use daily, if you’re also talking to someone in the background on the phone and browsing inside the app at the same time, it causes crazy performance drops. Sometimes even video transitions in Android-side apps start freezing. Is anyone else experiencing this besides me, or experiencing it in a different way? The device I’m using is an Xperia 10 III.

So you’re saying that when you are using your device resources heavily there is resource contention?

That is a classic CS problem.

It could be that the by the sound of it Android apps you are using have gotten heavier resource use over the years it could be that the SFOS apps you use now have bigger internal dbs and thus bigger memory footprints.

I noticed the same thing and it either started or got a lot worse in 5.1. I’m using an Xperia 10 II. You can definitely notice it when an Android app is rendering something while you’re trying to type. Performance immediately drops to single digit fps, you get loads of typos as well as duplicated text (a different but long-standing bug), and once you stop typing, performance is back to normal.
You can reproduce it in apps that render search results instantly while you’re typing, for example in Firefox. It doesn’t seem to affect apps that implement a short delay before rendering, like Etsy.

Ive noticed it too in many media apps that render video, but my take away is that I should just try to use my phone less so in a sense its a net positive

for me its actually mix experience with Xperia 10 II, overall performance got way better but then there are some weird hiccups with some apps.

then again we have to keep in mind this is EA/testing release and they are always some expected regressions.

I can confirm the same experience on Xperia 10 ii; even while downloading data typing most of the time becomes difficult. Also opening pages from browser (when launching browser) has slowed down alot.

No, it’s not EA anymore but there’s also no new version to the last EA version.

I find something like that sometimes. Especially when in an AAS browser. I can just use it, put it away, then later use it more, with no problem. But when I open a link, everything gets crazy slow with no solution. Most of the time, I can just close the browser, but it stays slow. Only restarting AAS helps. Other times, it just completely locks up the phone, and I can do nothing but long press buttons to restart.
It is not just the browser, but that is where I find it most.
