Hey there, introducing my new app: Spliit.
It’s a client for the open source group expense tracking app Spliit (https://spliit.app). It’s not finished yet, but it’s in a state where it’s already usable for most common use-cases.
Hey there, introducing my new app: Spliit.
It’s a client for the open source group expense tracking app Spliit (https://spliit.app). It’s not finished yet, but it’s in a state where it’s already usable for most common use-cases.
In the newest version you can edit the group detail from Settings! Additionally, I changed the internals so that the app conforms with Jolla Store rules, so hopefully you’ll see it in the official store soon!
Just a suggestion for the icon. The green background doesn’t look quite well with the red scissor.
Something like a light grey or something would look better i think.
I was using the official colours, but I agree it doesn’t look that great. I suck at this stuff, though, any particular colour you think might look good?
I don’t have any suggestions for you, but here’s a meme to summon someone, who has better understanding of color theory:
Thanks for introducing Spliit. Very timely since I just came back from a couple of trips.
Your app does not allow advanced splitting options in “paid for”
If they have been established (in web app), then if I select/deselect a person, the split is reset back to even-shares, and the split shares to 1.
(uneven shares needed to cope with mixed families/couples/free love communes)
App is losing server connection sometimes.
Trivial:
Yeah, advanced splitting options are planned for later. The connection loss never happened to me, don’t know how to reproduce.
Cover is planned eventually. Which description do you mean? In OpenRepos?
description of this topic actually.
loss of server is causing error messages, but early days. I havn’t seen a pattern yet.
Obviously it would be nice if I could set/edit the uneven split values.
However if this is difficult UI problem, or until it can be implemented, it would be better if it did not change the existing uneven-shares setting, even if it cannot edit or display it. In the web app, creating a new expense can use the “default splitting options” of a previous split. So where I have set up the group in the web-app, and created default splitting, it would be best if a new expense created in Spliit(sfos) follows that default rather than creating it with even-shares.
Likely I won’t get to use this, as the 3G shutdown later this week, means there is will be no SF phone available
priority: low
Allow to copy URL of groups to clipboard so it can be shared
most obvious: in long press on group name e.g. in select a group, add “copy url” to the existing “remove” option
or
long press on group name on expense page copies the url or brings up copy option
or show URL in settings-group
or
Added an option to share the group url on the Select group (now Groups) page.
Both good, thx
“share URL” gives me 2 targets Whisperfish and Messages.
Unfortunately neither get usable url text.
Messages gets nothing, WF gets
"Spliit group 3passes"
"undefined"
I’m suspecting that it is SF not what you have done.
Copy to Clipboard would be more generally useful, since the SF clipboard does actually work. Just the url. (Getting share working is probably far behind other features )
Added an internal share target that makes it possible to copy the url to clipboard. This would be much better as a default system target but not much I can do about that.
Anyway, when I have the time, I’ll try to make the share compatible with the common apps. Guess I’ll have to read the source codes of the apps to find out why cause Jolla’s stance seems to be “documentation is overrated.”
Edit: Done. For future me and anyone else: Messages and Whisperfish expect the url in the “status” field instead of “data”. And at least Whisperfish expects the link name in the “linkTitle” field.
Says “could not share to Spliit”
Do ask on here on the forum for programming tips or examples, there are some really nice people here.
You might find some parts of the UI useful or instructive. The maintainer @ichthyosaurus is also the author of Opal QML components, that might be useful. Something to remember is that any SF apps using QML, you can look into the QML on your phone, even when there is no github.
It works for me, wouldn’t release it otherwise. Anyway, the sharing to Whisperfish and Messages should work in the newest version.
Restarting SF after updating, made copy work OK.
WF and Messages seem the same.
Spliit is now functional for me. the following are suggestions for thought, not actual requests:
URL works when pasted into browser. Since full functionality comes from the browser, it would be a logical share target too.
To me it would be more logical to have share url above remove in the long-press list.
I would have copy to clipboard at the top of the list (but I suspect you are not controlling this)
Now I try it, I think having a share top menu item might be more obvious. (might as well leave the long-press since it is there…
Perhaps, rather than a “Groups” topmenu item, you should have a Groups page that is left swipe from the group page.
Ah, the age old “if it was hard to write it should be hard to understand” attitude ![]()
Tested Ok now, thanks
