SMS sending not working on xperia 10 III – with VoLTE on

REPRODUCIBILITY: doesn’t work every time, after various restarts
OS VERSION: 4.5.0.18
HARDWARE: Sony xperia 10 III
UI LANGUAGE: English
REGRESSION: -

DESCRIPTION:

Sending SMS is responded with “couldn’t send message”. Receiving works, and also data transfer / phone.

PRECONDITIONS:

none

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

on a new Sony xperia 10 III, try to send an SMS message (I assume this is not enough, but I have no other clues, unfortunately).

EXPECTED RESULT:

sending sms

ACTUAL RESULT:

not sending sms

MODIFICATIONS:

none.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

I have no other information.

The next time it appears, collect the logs following this tutorial.

thanks, I’ve gone through the procedure right now. What part of the logs can I post without worrying about privacy?

One additional thing: some people report similar problems with VoLTE – I haven’t switched that on manually, but I also don’t know if it is on or off: is there a way to see that?

It is a toggle button added to Settings → System → Mobile network → 4G calling (beta)

yes, it seems that I had this toggled “on”, and switching it off this made it work again. Thanks, saved my day!
