Ship to Australia

Greetings , I’ve been interested in the development of this os and hardware for a few years. Does anyone have suggestions how I would go about buying the J2 phone and getting it sent to Australia ?

Thanks.

Thank you for the advice !

The site might be a bit confusing, so please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

Rest assured, it will be the same on my side as well. The only thing you need to pay attention to is your delivery address. Forward2me has warehouses in 4 countries, so you should choose whichever one is closest to you. Since you open an account there, they give you a personal address along with an ID. Don’t forget to enter your Jolla delivery address together with that ID. So don’t worry during this process — they offer up to 30 days of free storage in their warehouses, which means you do not need to worry about when Jolla will ship the product. Once Forward2me receives the package and asks you when they should send it to you, you will give them the instruction and your product will arrive =) Congratulations in advance, my friend. I hope you use your phone in good health.

Good work being the test bunny!
I can’t see why it wouldn’t work, so let’s see how smoothly it works

I payed my deposit with paypal and forgot to change the delivery address. So my order shows my Australian address. A rookie mistake :frowning:

Ive sent Jolla an email about it. I will have to see how it goes.

Im excited to take part in this private linux phone.

I am optimistic the phone will work ok here in Australia. Worse case situation if it does not work i can sell it to someone in a country with compatible coverage. I can only hope.

Well my X10 III works a treat on Vodafone with VoLTE so no reason to expect it not to

I don’t think you should worry about this, because since Jolla does not have shipping status/options outside the EU, I think you will definitely get a reply like, “We can’t send your product outside the EU.” So I think it’s up to you which warehouse in the picture you choose. For example, I chose their warehouse in Germany, and they gave me an assigned ID. The important thing here is that when you log into your Forward2me account, don’t forget to write to Jolla with the assigned ID and explain what the address change will be. I really don’t think you need to worry, because since they do not ship outside the EU, you can just tell them how you will handle the address change.

Also, don’t forget to go into the Jolla site in advance and change your address settings to your Forward2me address. Write it with the ID assigned to you, and do not enter any other ID. =)

Ive login at https://account.jolla.com

And i dont see any option to edit my address details…

Perhaps they will ask for it when they send email about final payment.

I setup an account at forward2me which was pretty simple. I see a similar screen to the one you showed. I really appreciate the encouragement. How cool is it to get into a phone that actually runs linux. Ive been using Debian on my laptop for years

Ah, I’m very sorry. Since you said final payment, I think you meant that you had already made the payment for the pre-order. Luckily, this worry has now disappeared even more, because for the pre-order only the billing address is required, so in this sense don’t worry too much. And yes, exactly as you thought, when they ask for the final payment they will ask you for the delivery address, you can be sure of that, because I asked this myself a long time ago  You asked where you would update the address; Jolla has a purchase store, and as shown in the picture there is a profile link right at the top. When you click there, the addresses appear. Please don’t forget to fill in your default address with the IDs Forward2me gave you and with which warehouse you will choose. Of course, after you do that, they will probably still ask you for the delivery address again.

( Yes, I’m also very excited, I want to have and use this phone as soon as possible  )

I was thinking about creating some community awareness about the jolla j2 and sailfish os. Maybe i could make some qr code stickers and put them near strain stations or something like that.

It’s basically like advertising in a way, you mean. Actually it makes a lot of sense, but I don’t think anyone will buy it. Especially since you’re outside Europe, other people wouldn’t want to put up with that difficulty either. Generally, if you were in Europe, I would support this, but we’re not in Europe. Introducing this device to people in our own country and then explaining how to get it shipped here would be quite a lot of hassle. It would be better for people living in European countries to do it.

Totally makes sense. Especially as you’re paying shipping twice:
Jolla → ForwardMe address
Then ForwardMe to AUS (or wherever)

If the j2 works well in ozi coverage. Maybe I can see what happens if jolla expand distribution.

Does anyone know when I would make my final payment for the September II batch phone ?

Hey buddy, September 2, the final payments will be collected in July.

I need to make the payment by end of June for tax reasons. Do you think I could ask to pay early ?
