REPRODUCIBILITY: 0% if trying to reproduce right after locking, 100% after a delay of a couple of minutes (every time when pulling out of pocket)
OS VERSION: 4.6
HARDWARE: XIII
UI LANGUAGE: Eng
REGRESSION: Yes
DESCRIPTION:
You used to be able to doubletap power button in quick succession on 4.4/4.5 to wake up the phone and get back to the app you were using right away skipping unlock screen, on 4.6 it seems to require a certain delay between taps (EDIT: not sure about this part, as the ‘delayed double-tap’ was usually right after failed unlock, when the bug disappears, once you fail to unlock, you can lock and insta unlock like on 4.5) or you end up on lockscreen, don’t think this is a design decision, maybe side effect of the camera button support in 4.6?
PRECONDITIONS:
4.6 and probably no lock-screen pin/fingerprint etc
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
- Leave the phone with screen off for a couple of minutes (trying right after ‘locking’ with power button doesn’t seem to work, quick double tap works as on 4.5 then)
- Double-tap power button quickly like it used to work in 4.5
EXPECTED RESULT:
You’re back to the app you were using before
ACTUAL RESULT:
You end up on lock screen
MODIFICATIONS:
Storeman/chum/no patches
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Now with this bug report and trying to reproduce… It seems to work as before if you do it soon after power button press to ‘lock phone’, but since 4.6 it happens constantly after pulling it out of pocket, so maybe some delay is needed to trigger some ‘sleep’ function… Not sure
Edit: yeah, quick double tap soon after initial power-lock, doesn’t seem to trigger the bug, leave the phone with screen off for a couple of minutes and the bug is back
