Selection text in stock browser on XA2(Sailfish 4.0.1.45)

HARDWARE (Jolla1, Tablet, XA2,…): XA2
UI LANGUAGE:Russian
REGRESSION: (compared to previous public release: Yes, No, ?): I do not remember.

DESCRIPTION:

I can not select the text on this forum everywhere, and especially in the text editor of a new message(bug report)

PRECONDITIONS:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Open stock browser
  2. Open Sailfish OS forum
  3. Create a new message (bug report)
  4. Edit message and try to select text(for copy)

For how long are you a SFOS user?

THIS is the way this OS works since the very beginning :frowning:

No chance to do this!
Annoying me since 7y…

On this forum you may go to desktop mode, rotate to landscape and select text from preview on the right side

I love this OS one year, and love linux.
Text Selection in Webcat from openrepos works very well .In desktop mode not works for me in stock browser .

webcat handles text selection very differently and therefore it works in edit boxes.

This was meant as a workaround only for this very special forum:

while editing.

I know there’s a lot to do,
I might be seen a insistant,

But it would really be great to be able to select text into the browser while in writing mode.

To quote messages, even for work while being on the way, delete a whole text instead of keeping pressed on backspace for looong time ect.

Having a ctrl-a key or a way to select text easily would be a big improvement for SFOS browser.
It would push the browser from toy to tool, even more than it is already.
