SDK download as torrent?

@Jolla Please offer SDK as a torrent! I spent the best part of yesterday trying to download the offline version, as my internet connection is very poor. 1MB/sec at best, and constant interruptions where I have to resume download manually in Firefox.

Well, I did succeed in the end but then there was the next surprise… the offline.run started to also download everything needed. I had to disconnect my internet connection to make it actually install offline.

I think download managers are still a thing, but maybe their way of pausing and resuming doesn’t work with how Jolla’s servers handle downoads (eg. if you need to authenticate for every request)?

I’ve totally forgot about those, I mean I haven’t used one since the 90’s. I had 100 MB fiber 2002 already, but now I live on the country side with nothing but a very poor mobile connection with sim card antenna. That’s what those fuckers Telia gave me when the killed the very stable ADSL I had. Not very fast, but better then now.

Well, I think I at least should investigate about download managers., so thanks for the tip.

Still think Jolla should offer torrent for the offline installer though.

JDownloader is the best!

FWIW, I use Deluge on Windows for torrents.

Well, I don’t use Windows.

Yeah, I hear you @eson, it’s about time I migrated away from Microslop too.
Out of interest, what are you using?

Not who you asked, but that question is the best way to summon a bunch of Linux randos to come and tell you the reasons why their distro is the best.

So here I go: Nobara and NixOS. Don’t recommend NixOS for a newbie. Nobara on the other hand is really great for newbies, especially if you’re into gaming.

15 years ago I was distro hopping a lot and eventually got hooked on Linux Mint Cinnamon. Linux Mint because it is built on Ubuntu and Ubuntu’s ecosystem, but IMO with better pre-installed applications. Cinnamon because, coming from Windows, the learning curve is not that steep, and because I just love all those ready made Cinnamon Spices. Lots of useful add-ons. I even created some myself.
So just do it, whatever distro you choose. I’ve never even looked back since.

I think we are really of topic here!

Please help @admin.

Which words in ‘I think we are really off topic here!’ did you not understand?

All of them obviously!

How can you say that? A few moments of searching JDownloader, made me shiver.

Not that I know of anything better, but JDownloader will never find it’s way in to my PC.

@eson On a serious note, why don’t you try using wget to download the SDK? It has the ability to continue a partially downloaded file.

As an old employee of Telia I can atest that you arent the only one who got left in the dust when they took it away. We always had so many angry customers because of that

Never thought of that either, so tank you, will try.

I have no trouble imagining that.

Swedens most expensive internet connection, that don’t work. Only because they have the actual monopoly outside the urban areas.

All of them!

Sorry

Have you ever tried with a 5g modem?

I had a 4g modem before, and last year i upgraded to a 5g one

I went from a not so stable 8 mb to a very stable 200 mb, sometimes i even got 300 mb

Maybe it’s worth a shot…
