Hi,

Unfortunattly I don`t want a play anymore with SailfishOS, so I want replace my Jolla C2 with pinephone, or another linux phone. I am from Poland/Upper Silesia

On XA2 (yes long time ago) I can modify .img file put into image gapps, and replace with original file, and gapps work. Appsupport with microG dont allow using gmail, google maps, ing bank śląski etc. So its useless for me.

I dont think you will have less issues with other linux mobile variants and waydroid, especially in the long term. This stuff can always break if google decides to mess it up

Why do you think those would work with Waydroid any better? Have you tried to use them in browser? For example install firefox to Android app support and use those from there?

Do you mean you can’t use gmail email client app or gmail email adress in a different mail client? If you want gmail app client I honestly don’T understand why you want a linux phone in the first place. For Google Mapps there is a web view wrapper in f-droid that works nicely.

I don’t fully understand why you’d buy a C2 if you just want to play. But a PinePhone is certainly suitable for playing. Good luck!

True, if one is looking to play/hack with a phone then the PP is probably the best (or at least the funnest) device out there.

If you go into postmarketos chat you’ll quickly discover that number #1 opensource phone recommended is not pinephone (it sucks) but oneplus 6. No I’m not actually joking or glorifying my port, its true, it has powerful cpu and very well working mainline. You can buy it (very cheaply) and install sfos, if not, literally anything else also is available

I have a pinephone, if someone is interested? I would exchange it together with a xa2 for a c2 btw. But without 5g they will all remain useless in future…
