Yes, that is interesting. I was led astray by its description as “a frontend for the Pass password manager”, but it does in fact work without. Nice! It may not be completely practical to use it without pass though, since you can’t edit or delete passwords using Passiic.
I don’t know of a better way. A busybox-compatible version of pass would be the ideal solution, but if it exists, I couldn’t find it.
