[RELEASE] Sailfish Auto - Android Auto support that also supports screen mirroring for native apps

@daniel_h Please do the following:

  • Go to the About screen
  • Keep tapping on the version number until you see the Debug menu enabled
  • A “Debug diagnostics” button should show up
  • tap on the “Patch logging settings” button
  • Enable the checkbox that says “Enable Diagnostic logging”
  • Close Sailfish Auto
  • Open Sailfish Auto again and go back to the Debug Diagnostic menu (need to enable again via About)
  • Tap on the “Create diagnostic archive” and share that file with me please via DM

I’ll take a look on what exactly is happening.

No. They wanted (and actually did bring to live) a operation system for car computers. That is very different to this one.

This is still something very amazing yes, but it is very diffent.

Best regards

This is probably not the right thread but maybe you could point me to the right one if need be:

I’ve successfully paired my JP2026 (5.2.0.20) with my car’s audio system (via bluetooth) and tested with a phone call home from the car. It worked, the recorded message on my answering machine sounded good, as expected.

But:

The car doesn’t recognise/receive any contacts that are on my JP2026. (I had to enter my home mumber manually.

Any idea how I can fix that?

And would your app also enable me to call and receive calls via my JP2026 and the car’s system?

Thanks once again. I can confirm that I can now setup Sailfish Auto and connect it to my car (Hyundai i30 (2025)) successfully

Jolla Phone 2026 and Sailfish Auto works with my Mitsubishi Outlander 2018 . A long-awaited feature – impressed! Thanks.

Hi

First of all: thanks for the work. I just got my Jolla phone last week and tried Sailfish Auto this weekend. I am able to run Android apps, but screen mirroring seems to fail. I could use some pointers to start debugging.

fyi: The issue is that sailfish mirror is not starting properly. It tries 3 times and then just gives up.

Hi, got a question, can i use only the android auto feature or do i need to install the full sanefish patch? Could not find it separatedly

if i understand correctly is has one major issue, Android support must be installed on the Jolla, right ? :frowning:

You need to install a lot of Google apps, like google, google’s voice recognition, Android auto and Google Maps.

well no go for me  what is the reason to have jolla phone then ?

@HtheB, why do we need Android Maps? Can’t they be an option? Even when I used an Android phone, I removed Maps, and Android Auto still worked.
Also, if you don’t want to use voice recognition, can it be an optional install? The same goes for the Google app.

@mastal Android Auto does not start up without them… You can’t skip the initial setup.

So it is integration by design = s…

Yeah, unfortunately… :sob:
Edit: Unless you probably hack the APK and stuff, which I wouldn’t bother tbh

Hopefully with the new phone and more people getting into sfos because of it, people will work on a way to get it to function without having to install all that google crap.

How to uninstall Sailfish auto controlled way? I installed it as testers mindset but I would like to uninstall it and all these Google crap away.. Is there possibility, that I will break bluetooth stack or something?
