IMHO it would be nice to combine the two ideas (@fingus and @tux_in_IE) and have a small Linux single board computer (I have a Radxa Rock 5B running openSUSE Tumbleweed) and control it with my phone (through wifi) instead of a (bluetooth) remote. I think almost all of the necessary software already exists. I would like to add the possibility to use the phone as a game controller too, though.
