[Release notes] Pispala 5.1.0.11

i imagine they will, but does it bring anything substantial for them beyond the updated browser engine?

Can someone test if USB tethering still works after the update? It doesn’t on my Xperia 10 iii, the connected PC has internet but no DNS.

I suspect this has to do with the migration from ConnMan DNS to systemd-resolved.

We have to wait and see, but my guess would be that it brings additional nice upgrades

Yes, like you already speculated, 5.1 is not going to get any new minor release at this point.

The new Jolla Phone will ship with 5.2, and other devices will get that a bit later. We simply haven’t had bandwidth to test the other devices much, as the focus has been on making sure things work on the new device. And we will probably have our hands full with the feedback for the new device when it ships, so the release for the older devices needs to be staggered slightly.

So don’t worry, the older devices have not been forgotten, we just need to manage the amount of moving parts on the table at once. And a bit of good news is that we probably don’t need to drop support for the Xperia XA2 and 10 yet, unlike earlier estimated. So those would still get 5.2, with the updated browser engine and other new things.

Today I experience SMS sending issue.

I just typed in terminal:

systemctl –user restart mission-control-5

and it worked right away.

@filip.k Do you recall if it was the first SMS you were trying to send after booting the device, or had you sent messages successfully before that? Wondering if mission-control had failed at boot or at some later point.

AFAIR it’s always first after boot.

Do you have SIM PIN code enabled, and which device is it?

I did find the following:

So the BlueTooth issue is not the SFOS 5.1 but the app “AppSupport Bluetooth (beta)”; or Amazfish or both, I do not know :-).
When uninstalling AppSupport Bluetooth (beta) and connecting the watch again the connection will be stable.

C2 and yes, PIN is enabled.

Hi all, is it in general or only related to Xperia 10 III, that the AAS consumes a lot of battery and has a weak performance? some apps Lag brutally like the DB App - for trainconnections in Germany. or Reddid Android app (Yea I know there is also a native one) they even shut down! Streaming with cable plugged in does not work, because it says not enough energy to load the battery… something ist messed up pretty hard on the AAS side. and it is not since 5.1! If i remember right it was also same after the last two bigger updates. Is there something that could be done without reflashing? would reflashin even help?

Thank you very very much!!!

XA2 not abandoned and included in 5.2?
These are beautiful news,
Many thanks
You are my heroes.
And for many other users, I guess, to whom the modest, old, cheap, easy, eco XA2 is still important!

I have a new issue on XA 2 since upgrade to SFOS 5.1. The switch from flight modus on to flight modus off takes about 30 seconds. ( only if flight modus is on for a while)

On which device you experience this?

It’s a Xperia XA2 H3113

not directly the same issue, but disabling flight mode also enables bluetooth and and wlan again, despite both being disabled prior to engaging flight mode.

not sure if this is a “new” default now or rather a bug.

Same issue here on an XA2 Dual.
Also applies to wifi and mobile data buttons on my side.

One workaround atm: Quick 2x power button (black screen and back) wakes the menu buttons up.

I am using an XA2 and the DB app has also been lagging brutally since version 5.1. There has also been erratic battery drainage, which has been reported by others. Since the battery consumption and usage of some basic apps is not as straightforward as before, the net benefit of version 5.1 is rather negative for me.

If you have developer mode enabled you can try as root systemctl restart usb-moded and re-plug the USB cable. There might be some race condition related to this service. We have an internal task on this, need to figure out why it happens on some devices.
