Reflashing with wiping device possible?

Hi, new user here so please bear with me if this already exists somewhere but I could not find via search.

If I were to reflash Sailfish on my XA2, will reflashing reset the device and would I have to then set up everything from start? I assume reflash should not be via the flashing tool as it would for sure have a script for wiping the device. Are there separate commands that I should use for reflashing without wiping?

Yes, it will. That is why we have the backup util. You simply restore your personal data from the backup file, after reflash.
Just make sure everything is inside your backup file, before you reflash, by unzipping the file. I’ve had one or two incomplete backup files over the years.

One more thing. Use slava’s My Backup if you want your appdata to also be restored.
