I am amazed. You’re right - a documentary would be incredible. I wonder if they have photos from the era. Someone could interview employees past and present.
I think through the years of reading through this forum (and TMO) and now recall the spectrum of input this part-time band of 20 people have received from the community. It’s great that the community is passionate about this product. But I imagine a large lecture hall with these 20 people up on stage and the entirety of the Sailfish user base in the seats. I imagine all of the comments being said to these 20 people for all of these years, then silence. Then ask each of the 20 to share their story. They worked on this part-time?!?!?! I assume that the vast majority had to have other jobs from which they drew their living wage.
Last week I watched a movie I had never previously heard of named “Sisu”. A bit gruesome and simplistic in plot. But given the protagonist and setting are Finnish, and given the meaning of the word, I immediately thought of the Jolla team and associated this word with them…and that was before I knew they consist of 20 people who are quite possibly having to work other jobs to make ends meet!
Wow. Just wow. I appreciate my phone, however imperfect and unfinished it may be, all the more. I’m pretty sure if we were in my imaginary lecture hall, after that 20th person shared their story, we’d be silent then stand and give them an ovation for making it this far. Hats off to that team!
