Rattling sound when making a call

REPRODUCIBILITY: 100%
OS VERSION: 5.2.0.22
HARDWARE: Jolla Phone 2026
UI LANGUAGE: Finnish
REGRESSION: N/A

DESCRIPTION:

When receiving or placing a call, the speaker rattles.

PRECONDITIONS:

SIM-card inserted and phone is capable of making calls. Both SIM-cards active.VoLTE is activated and registered. 4G network used as default.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Select a contact or type a phone number
  2. Wait for the call to initialize
  3. Use the phone speaker (not loudspeaker)

EXPECTED RESULT:

Clear sound when makin a call.

ACTUAL RESULT:

A slight rattling / cracling sound from the speaker.

MODIFICATIONS:

Chum.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

I have now enabled 5G as preferred network, disabled VoLTE and the empty SIM-card slot. If these fixes the rattling sound, then I’ll update the information accordingly and try to enable 4G and VoLTE one by one and test the call quality.

Edit: Received a call. Rattling can still be heard with VoLTE off and 5G selected. Maybe just slightly less, but still audible.

Edit 2: 4G preferred, VoLTE off, rattling still during the phone call. So starting to suspect a speaker/audio fault.

Unfortunately, I hear the same sound on my Jolla Phone 2026 (from batch #3). I would add that it is a high frequency sound, but still audible by human. Good to know that I am not alone. :sweat_smile:

For me it’s more like a clicking/rattling sound. Like something is ticking the speaker.

I have noticed a faint clicking sound coming from the earphone. However, it only occurs when I am at work. I have rather poor reception at my workplace, and I believe that is the cause. It could also be due to interference from computers, access points, or similar equipment.

Could be. We just got some signal boosters to our office, but I have no idea about their placebo effect. :smiley:

I’ll need to write some observations down while out of office.
