Hello, fellow sailors!

Why is it so essential to perform basic device functions, i.e., make a call, use the camera, connect to the internet, in Android before flashing the device to Sailfish? Is some information from the Android installation used during the flashing process? Or does information from Android remain after flashing?

Could I just forego the entire process, as I certainly don’t feel like mucking around with Android?

It is just a precaution. If some functions worked before on Android and not on Sailfish, it means something looks bad on Sailfish. If you don’t check, you can’t be sure where the problem is.
