As I just saw on Carol Chen: "Great to see many people receiving their @jolla@t…" - Mastodon.org.uk it would be nice to have a push client service offered from the os. It should work with free push services too (like nextpush…)
And what exactly is that? (What does it help with?)
We have a ‘pull client service’ in the form of msyncd/libsocial/buteo.
It can be extended with plugins, e.g. the nextcloud integration has a Notifications service plugin.
The push servers send messages the apps need to pull all the time round. So messages come beside the app. This needs way less energy. In the time I now work with some android clones this concept makes sense as long you have the control to the push servers.
You mean push notifications? If yes that idea has been thrown around ten years ago or so but never materialized sadly. If no forget you read the above.
