Hi all
I’m trying to use pure maps in my Jolla C2 with latest os upgrade “”.67.
it’s impossible to catch the GPS signal, in any situation.
Using OSM Scout app it works fine, same with Android’s maps apps, like Petal maps, here, waze and mapy,
With pure maps still the red dot in the top of the display left side with no signal.
I already removed the app, and reinstall again, but still doesn’t catch it. online or offline the results is the same.
I don’t know if the problem started after the sfos update to 67, but for sure I remember with the ""65 worked.
May be a problem in the Qt library? What I’ve to check or fix?
Thanks in advance
I am not 100% sure, but may have a similar effect on my XA2 (5…67). GPS Info finds fix within short time. While PureMaps doesn’t update the position. However since GPS never worked well on (my) XA2, I didn’t think of a problem that might be related to pure maps.
Ok… but other maps app works well, approx well.
Pure Maps works with GPS on Jolla C2 with 5.0.0.67
This is exactly what is happening with my 10 V after installing new mapbox library/plugin to make PureMaps works with online profile, so I believe it is not related to sfos update itself. So now Pure Maps doesn’t crash no more with online profile, but is effectively useless.
I experience the same behaviour on the OnePlus6 port. GPSinfo shows sattelites but puremaps doesn’t update the location. Here maps on waydroid works.
Did somebody manage to solve the issue? It is really annoying to have this excellent app on the phone (XA2), while no being able to use it for navigation. At the same time GPSinfo and OSMScout have a proper location.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a solution to your problem. But I also have PureMaps and it has been running smoothly since the update to 5.0.0.67. However, this is on the C2. I always have to wait longer after starting it up, often several minutes, until it gets the GPS signal. But then it always runs without any problems. Maybe it is actually due to the hardware.
I cannot reproduce it on Tama nor Nagara. Pure Maps uses QtPositioning 5.4, as I expect other map apps are doing on SFOS. Make sure that you have proper fix - i.e. position is updated once a second or so. Maybe other are showing some cached state. Although, I expect GPSinfo shows it properly. Easiest to check for updates is via GPSinfo.
As was illustrated in Pure maps recognises GPS Position much later than other apps · Issue #712 · rinigus/pure-maps · GitHub, going out for a walk helps. I expect it would help not just Pure Maps, but the user as well.
I used Pure Maps for navigation this weekend with an XA2. The GPS signal wasn’t a problem. To keep the GPS working, I’ve been using Hello GPS! for a while now, which I find to be more resource-efficient than GPSinfo, where I was getting an increasingly frequent “application not responding” message.
I am surprised you need anything in addition to Pure Maps for gps conditioning. For me, just running maps is sufficient. But thats on other devices.
Well, with sfos, there’s always the problem that activating the location doesn’t start receiving GPS data, only when an application requests it. So, whenever I need GPS data, I’ve gotten into the habit of always launching Hello GPS! first.
Using OsmAnd+ map and navigating app and it works very well.
