Protonmail refuse sailfish web browser

Hello,
i’m on sailfish os 4.6.0.15
Proton mail just refuse me the acces to there mail server.
they say : tested on :firefox,brave,tor browser ;chrome,safari,edge,opera.

does anyone have a solution?

I don’t think there will be a solution until a newer engine is used.

The engine in the browser is old and causes problems on many websites.

Since you’re on Sailfish 4.6.0, I won’t suggest Aurora Store, but you could try installing the APK directly from the ProtonMail android app releases at Releases · ProtonMail/android-mail · GitHub

I use Proton Mail’s Android app, mind this is on Sailfish 5 with the C2, and it works fine. But YMMV since I believe you’ll have an older version of AppSupport.

Unless you go through the effort of setting up ProtonMail Bridge so you have a local IMAP / SMTP bridge for ProtonMail, not possible. ProtonMail only offers SMTP (no IMAP) for Proton Business customers, with IMAP only being possible with the bridge. So you’d have to run the bridge then have the Mail app connect to that.

Your easiest option is the Android app (aside from getting a C2 of course :wink: )

5.x on C2 comes with the new (91) engine. Most likely the xperia will get it too when 5.x gets released for it.

The browser is one of the fundamental issues of SFOS that doesn’t seem it will be fixed anytime soon.
