I’m very sorry that there aren’t any Jolla and/or Sailfish OS “goodies” in the Jolla store.
It would be a good way for the community to promote Sailfish OS.
We’re missing caps, polo shirts, T-shirts, mugs … In addition, it would enable Jolla/Jollyboys to make a bit of a profit …
Plus, I don’t live far from the seaside. I’m going to miss this summer on the beach 
My “I am the First One” shirt often got questions, mainly being “You’re the first one to do what?”, I’d explain and the common response was “erm, oh, right, cool” and that’d be it. Most are too happy with their latest iPhone or Samsung black box. The odd nerdy-geeky type would ask; “is that a Linux distro then?” and would then engage in about 3 minutes of how cool Linux is and finish with, “yeah, I’ve got a Mac at home”.
Apple or Samsung aka Coke or Pepsi. What is Jolla SailfishOS?, no one really cares, only us lot 
I’m prone to buying a bit of merch if it is of some quality and not a pile of plastic/nylon sweat wear. A good woolly hat, a good hoody, a sweater, a t-shirt/polo shirt, preferably 100% cotton. I’m not sure it’s any kind of promotion though but more showing support for Jolla.
There are a great number of online outlets dealing with print/embroidery of garments.
Perhaps approve some designs for printing/embroidering on apparel with the Jolly Boys and order them ourselves, this of course means no profit for Jolla but is promotion on a small scale. I don’t think it would be worth the hassle or the small profit Jolla might earn from a few hundred shirts/caps/whatevers.
Yeah, just wearing jolla merch is not going to get adoption any higher, same experience here, but if there are third parties they can contract to offer merch and get some money from it, with 0 cost/investment outside of providing them jolla logo svg and they will take care of logistics and stuff like for youtubers/patreons etc, go for it, would love another jolla beanie (and a bit bigger one this time)
Some swag would be nice. I might actually buy a t-shirt with the sailfish logo. A secret message to fellow SFOS users, just some nice ornament to others.
Sorry for reviving an old topic, but I dared not to create a new one for this, since this was discussed earlier. I like to support FOSS projects by buying their merch. Jolla could outsource it to some European entrepreneurs who already make this kind of stuff for other Linux distros, like Hellotux and Freewear. I would love a t-shirt or a hoodie with Sailfish logos and all. 
Tshirts, made and printed in Europe; i would buy them for shure!

I don’t think Jolla can make a priority of initiating this. It could be worth to ask in a community meeting if they would allow a community initiative.
My first thought: we make designs, we find a print and distribution partner, we make a case to Jolla. Then Jolla would (only) need to register, upload the designs, and let the partner do the rest.
Probably the partner will profit most, but still, it is a bit of passive income (well, sometimes uploading a new design, and doing the taxes, and…), and fans can proudly own SFOS merch.
Another good way to promote the product would be to send a few phones to several YouTubers to test them and review them (people like Michael Fisher, aka Mr. Mobile, The Linux Experiment, Brodie Robertson, etc.).
Those people would probably be interested and would do it for next to nothing, as it would also boost their views. They would probably be genuinely interested in reviewing such products (rather than “I have to do it because it’s popular right now”).
These patches Jolla had for their May Day celebration are f#&%^g awesome…
I have (too many) OpenBSD & Tor shirts that no one recognises, would love to add some Jolla swag to the mix! 
I was thinking this for a while as well. But I have a daily driver 10V, a broken C2 (wifi and bluetooth won’t work at the same time, and hadware test gives doean’t pass the accelerometer), and an XA2 ultra. I am not going to give away my daily driver, and the other phones are not great representatives. Maybe I’ll send my 10V after my Helsinki vacation this July; donate shipping back and forth to and from the linux experiment.
That doesn’t solve my lack of SFOS t-shirts though.
Naaah…I was thinking that Jolla could send a couple of J2’s to those YouTube creators before the general public gets them.
But, yeah, I understand the sentiment regarding the lack of T-shirts.
The risk with some YouTubers is very high though. Especially given that sfos gets better and better much faster these days and it keeps selling, I’d argue that it’s an unnecessary risk at the moment.
There will be thousands of people with the device soon and some of them wanted to promote sfos already with Jolla’s program. Maybe for now this is a more calculated approach.
I agree. Some youtuber just may want to trash the OS, just aiming vainly at gathering views…
Should I bring my screwdrivers with me to Helsinki on the 8th of July? We could try fixing your C2. At the same time it’s worth replacing the loudspeakers with some better ones e.g. from Samsung. Never mind, I hope the JP2 will have better speakers than the C2.
I got a hat with the Jolla logo when I visited Jolla HQ in Tampere. I also asked for some merchandising but the hats were the only items at Jolla. Perhaps they will have some t-shirts in Helsinki on the 8th of July?
Yep, exactly. Happened with the very first videos that showed up in December as an example.
Maybe minimal damage, but still I remember this being one of the very few videos about the phone while the campaign was still fresh and we didn’t even know the full specs yet.
That would be amazing. I was already planning to bring my C2. But screwdrivers are probably not enough to fix it, right? I have an old tube of phone glue, I don’t know if it is still good. I’ll bring it. Is there anything I should bring for this specifically?
I’m not holding you to this, but I would like to be prepared just in case.
How would we find eachother within a 500 person crowd?

I think we’ll be around in Helsinki on the 8th even before the event and we can PN each others. Usually there’s only the need for a hairdryer and some very thin flexible cards/plastic tools. I can bring those along since I will travel by train to Helsinki. We can also borrow power from somewhere and try the fixing operation e.g. at a seminar room at Helsinki univ., Aalto univ. or at VTT. Let’s hope we find out soon where the event will be. Traveling with the metro is easy from Helsinki <> Espoo with local transportation tickets via HSL. I used to live there during my PhD times.
