is there any patch to power off Xperia 10 without using the hardware buttons power and volume down?
At least on my Xperia 10 III via command prompt “devel-su poweroff” seems to work. For this the developer tools must be activated and the password set.
There are also apps that provide such function e.g. personally I use Lighthouse from OpenRepos and it has “Device Controls” page with reboot and shut down buttons.
systemctl poweroff
In console as user is enough.
I’m talking of Xperia 10 first one, no II, III.
thanks, I need to test that tomorrow.
systemctl poweroff works even better with qCommand at least on oneplus 6. On Xperia 10, I can test sometime this week (it’s a friends phone).
It’s Power & Vol UP, if you mean this 'Press and hold both until the phone vibrates 3 times.
Ok, long time ago. But as you are into it, could you please try systmctl poweroff if it works on Xperia 10? Thanks.
[root@b1 defaultuser]# systmctl poweroff
bash: systmctl: not found
[root@b1 defaultuser]#
Do I have to install something, before this should work? Device is relatively fresh installed and few days ago updated to 76.
Sorry “e” missing… systemctl poweroff
and with qCommand you can make / set an appgrid icon.
Device powered off, then LED flashing red for abt. 15 seconds, then went off.
Unfortunately, half a minute later it started to reboot.
edit: Some months ago I made an experiment: I flashed a phone, then didn’t make the Jolla account and installed nothing. On testing, I observed, that the power off bug isn’t present. Bug occurs only after installing the rest of the system after entering Jolla creds and loading/installing the rest of the system components. So I think it’s not the blobs in case of Xperia 10.
Yeah, I did think this. So there is no way to poweroff with software, just the hardware button do work to complete poweroff. (3 vibrations).
Thanks for testing.![]()
It is unfortunate, but indeed the device will reboot most of the time as it “failed to power off”.
You can just wait though, after a few minute on the unlock screen, the phone will shut down (or reboot) automatically. Usually, after 2 reboots it shuts down.
So that means that the command sent from SFOS system to Sony low level or hardware driver for powering the device down is incompatible, or in other words, wrong? So question is, where is the command defined? What is the right command? Where and how to change the present wrong into the right command?
Please help with the filename and path, where the command is written. I want to test/change and then report here what came out.
If it is “below” the OS and/or drivers, it’s not like it is going to be a text command you can mess with on the fly.
Most likely patching and rebuilding the kernel would be involved.
Can we as community do this without waiting for Godot / Jolla?
Interesting fact is, that Xperia X doesn’t have the bug, XA2, I don’t know, and beginning with X10 the bug occurs constantly.
Sure. Several people already do - the mythical porters are very adept at such things.
Isn’t it limited to the 10 I?
I don’t know about the newer devices, because I only have a Xperia X and a few Xperia 10’s and unfortunately no other more recent device. Also I had a XA2 in 2019, this is long ago and I don’t remember much details except a completely unusable GPS. Therefore I don’t know if the majority of SFOS users also suffer the power off bug with their new 64bit devices.
Then i’m telling you - it is limited to the 10 I.
