Poor microphone qualty makes callings unusable

HARDWARE: Jolla Phone (2026) - jp2601 - jp2601 - 1.0.0.17 - aarch64

DESCRIPTION:

When calling someone via mobil on the new jolla phone, my microphone quality is very worse for the other person, it is hard to understand me. It seem it doesn’t matter if I or the other person starts the call. I have tested this with three persons - 2x cellular IOS and 1x landline. The quality doesn’t imorove over time. A person said, I sound like a serial killer on phone.
When leaving a voice message in messenger, my microphone quality is fine.

PRECONDITIONS:

I use a German mobile service provider with D-Netz. I have 4G and 2-4 bars during all calls.
It does not matter if I use a headset, car bluetooth or phone itself.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Calling someone with the phone app.
  2. Getting called by someone.

EXPECTED RESULTS:

Good microphone quality and want to be understood .

ACTUAL RESULTS:

Worse microphone quality, I was barely understandable during calls.

If the call is going via 2G, it’s most likely a duplicate of this:

Luckily Jolla is aware of the bug and is trying to fix it. In the meantime, a workaround seems to be to turn speaker phone on and off whenever the other side complains about bad sound, that seems to fix it for a while.

Thank you man. My home screen shows 4G, therefore I think its okay. I will try your fix.

Just a heads-up: 4G is only for mobile data, so when you call someone or receive a call, your connection drops to 2G or 3G because voice calls run on those older networks (unless you have VoLTE enabled)
