Phone calls no longer possible on 5.0.0.61 and 5.0.0.62 in X10II

REPRODUCIBILITY: Always
OS VERSION: 5.0.0.61
HARDWARE: X10II
UI LANGUAGE: en_GB
REGRESSION: yes

DESCRIPTION: Phone calls no longer possible on 5.0.0.61

Lost ability to make and receive phone calls.

PRECONDITIONS:

update from 4.5.0.16 into 5.0.0.61

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

as above

EXPECTED RESULT:

make phone calls

ACTUAL RESULT:

no phone calls

MODIFICATIONS:

N/A

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

I’m not able to make phone calls. Every attempt to make phone call is ended with network error popup. Receiving phone calls is not possible as well. While receiving a phone call the phone wakes up but instantly drops the phone call and the only result is receiving an sms message from operator that somebody was calling. Changing sims from different operators/carriers doesn’t change a thing. The same sims work in another phone. Sims are registered. I have tested all available settings that means 2g, 3g, 4g, volte etc. Both sim slots (dual sim) behave the same. Update to 5.0.0.62 - no change.

Hi, I can only say that I had the second part of your problem at the end of last year. I suddenly got a lot of SMS on my XA2 saying that someone had tried to call me. There was also never any ringing, the SMS came straight away.
I then suspected that it was related to an Android phone (my Volla) on which I had recently activated Volte.
I then contacted Vodafone support and said that I did not have a Volte-capable phone. They spoke of an incomplete configuration. It took 3-4 attempts, from changing certain parameters to resetting the configuration on the Vodafone side at the end. After that I was able to receive calls again.
*
I must also say that I have a twin card (two SIM cards) where I can alternately use two devices with the same phone number but should only have one activated at a time, which I have always done. This led me to believe that Vodafone was overwhelmed when a phone with VOLTE was logged into the network under the same phone number and then another without.
Since then, I have avoided activating VOLTE again.

I suspected VOLTE as well but I’ve been using VOLTE since it was implementet in SFOF without issues (but VOLTE in roaming of coutse). The same happens on different sim cards from different carriers hence for me it looks like phone issue. After switching VOLTE off I can see that the phone is dropping connection from 4G to 3G while I try to make incoming call.

I have just freshly flashed SFOS 5 to my new (old) Xperia 10 II and while calls do work, the person on the other side gets the same horrible echo during calls like on 10 III! I specifically bought X10 II to avoid this issue. Anyone experienced that?

Same for my 10III after OTA upgrade. Have posted in the v5.0.0.62 Release Notes thread.

Fixed by uninstalling Personal Ringtones app (which should IMO be part of the OS, as a side note).

I have this issue with my Xperia 10 II since OTA update to 5.0.0.62. Calls don’t work, SMSs still work. No VoLTE. No patch manager. Have chum and Storeman + Aurora store.
Already reported on release notes thread. The advice was to re-flash - which is a huge burden as I have lots of applications installed and configured.

No Personal Ringtones app installed…?

I think I have it, yes. I do not see how personal ringtones could break ordinary calling out. For receiving calls maybe. Phone application either crashes (always on first attempt) and sometimes writes “network problem” on second and further attempts.

Had the exact same experience and uninstalling the app solved it. Reportedly also happened to some users under SFOS 4 (not me though).

Thanks for the reference! Missed that one somehow…

Application installs voicecall manager plugin overriding system ngf one

That’s probably an explanation…

It looks removing Personal ringtones solved the problem with calls on Xperia 10 II with 5.0.0.62.
Is there any hope to get functionality back at near future?
(No, I will not abandon SFOS if the answer is no…)

It took me a while to find out PersonalRi gtones is the problem. This should be added to release notes. Many people struggles finding this info in various forum threads…
