Nice app. I really appreciate the effort. Iremoved the Android version of Organic Maps.
Yeah ! What market give Organic Maps possibility on sailfishOS ?
Short remark.Beware of concerns:
before you transfer your work to OM.
Was wondering about this. The two codebases probably have quite a lot in common still. Maybe is better to base the port off of CoMaps?
I don’t understand what you wrote. Could you explain, what you mean, in other words or translate it from your native language language with deepl, please?
In openrepos is Mapfish app which is fork of CoMaps for SFOS.
Right. But it’s missing a lot of the stuff that CoMaps/Organic Maps has. Still good map UI though.
Umm, Mapfish IS CoMaps based. What’s missing? I was looking at building it (as with this port) …
The navigation, I think? At least car navigation. There seems to be a separate app for that called Driver? Also the bookmark and editing stuff. Or am I missing something?
There’s only one comment on openrepos vis. driving which suggests it’s working. But I haven’t tested it yet.
It looks like the code is created with (help of) Claude AI: GitHub - defecador/harbour-mapfish: gps for people who dont like to drive · GitHub
I’m not a developer myself, but prefer apps with no or at least not to much AI involvement.
Yes, both this and the mapfish effort are claude…
But don’t despair, just use Puremaps from @rinigus … it’s great and it’s gotten me all over europe with barely a wrong turn (well, except those I make).
Yeah but stated on the github page ai used for the ui part… Rest is coming from organix maps
I suppose there are reasons to consider the base to be CoMaps over Organic Maps, also for future Mangrove integration.
Today i tested Organic maps in car. it is very exciting to run it natively on JP2026.
Pure-maps was fine until now ![]()
Together with Speech Note we finaly got nature TTS for navigation in all languages thanks to Piper.
maybe once Speech Note could be replaced by some lightweight Piper backend with simple UI just to download and manage voices for those who dont want to install ‘big gun for small bird’ what Speech note is.
only one problem is when listening music from media player with active voice navigation, but it is related to Speech Note, not Organic maps Offline language translator with Speech Note 4.0 - #22 by koza
edit: Speech Note is used only to generate audio files, so playing/mixing with media-player is on the Organicmaps side
Thank you very much for adapting this application to SailfishOS, it works really nice!
So far, I’ve only found one issue: if I change the map storage location to the SD card in the settings, the change doesn’t save the next time I open the app. As a result, I have no way to permanently store the maps on the SD card.
Hi everyone,
I’ve got the app ready for Harbour and it’s passing the validator now. Just keep in mind that the Harbour build has to use a synthetic fallback for text-to-speech, so TTS won’t sound as good there. Full Speech Note support will stay in the non-Harbour builds, which I plan to put on OpenRepos (and maybe Chum) later.
Just to clear things up, this port has nothing to do with Mapfish or CoMaps, and I won’t be making a CoMaps version. CoMaps is hosted on Codeberg, and since Codeberg restricts AI-assisted code, I’m not going to spend hours manually writing stuff an AI can do in minutes. Sorry for that. Besides, I think Sailfish and Jolla will benefit more from a good Organic Maps port anyway, which is what really matters to me.
There’s a new version up with a bunch of bug fixes and tweaks to make it feel more Silica-native: https://github.com/klahr/organicmaps-sailfish/releases
This build is a PR candidate, so if you try it and spot any bugs or weird behavior, please file an issue on my fork: https://github.com/klahr/organicmaps-sailfish/issues

Thanks for the update, found a bug what remain in this release. I somehow while testing public transport routing made a Track, it is listed in My places and can not be deleted. Same for places, ui start remorse delete, it will disappear from the list but when going back and then reopen My Places, track and deleted places are there again.
Sorry can not post to github as i canceled my account there some time ago
Ps: i would prefer chum over openrepos as it is more trusted there because binary is really built from published sources
Help.i have xperia 10 IV. Have downloaded the app, installed it, opened zoomed map - it immediately offered me to download offline map - which is OK. Then the download of50 mb freezed (which usually takes me3-6 seconds to download with mine provider. While it was hanged - i rebooted the app, and while opening it - it just crashes. Thank you for your job. Hope that the map will be workable.
reinstallation of app didn’t have any improvement. That’s because of c++. In more than sure.
