Oneplus 6(t) - THE port to get

I’m staying off of this discussion because its insanely offtopic and the sooner mods wake up and take action the better.

But If this person with reading problems confuses anyone, let me clear it out.

I do not provide any rpms, i don’t have any rpms, because since 9 years i never used AD. I only stated i can make said rpms work by making necessary changes to the kernel. And i never mentioned any payment whatsoever so thats even more insulting. The end.

Now stop off-topicking and insulting me and others please don’t feed the troll

It’s really great to see people doing ports, and great that you are doing long term support.
Sadly for me also, VoLTE is the issue with 3G turnoff next year. (6T doesn’t have VoLTE listed for my carrier - quite a few other Oppos do however)

BTW, perhaps you could ask Jolla for VoLTE code under NDA, or some other arrangement (i.e. you become an associate). Just because something is not OSS, doesn’t mean they won’t let you use it, especially if it is just proprietary but not secret.

The “T” in 6T is for T-Mobile, so it wouldn’t be surprising that in its native (Android) form it wasn’t configured to use other networks. (IIRC, XDA developers did jailbreak the 6T for other networks and “liberate” the 2nd SIM slot, so the limitations are not hardware-specific.) Also keep in mind that while OPPO and One Plus companies have some common investors, they aren’t the same thing.

But the UBPorts people – bless their hearts – are trying to get Volte working on that handset with their OS. And since Ubuntu Touch and SFOS are both ofono-based, that would be good news for Sailfish.

I don’t think any of that stuff about t-mobile is true

OK

Sure but that’s for america, my 6T didn’t come from america so it has no t-mobile exclusive stuff

If I remember the story correctly, the T comes from the OnePlus CEO who chose it, because Apple used to have S in the name of their slightly upgraded models, and T is the next letter after S in aplhabet. So it is OnePlus’ way of one upping Apple by naming their devices one better, S + 1 = T.

Thank you so much for this amazing port! Have been running it on my OP6 (enchilada) past week or so, and can confirm the OS is running extremely smooth and fast. Among other things, the gps connection is almost instant, which is a huge improvement compared with my old xperia x with which I have to wait for several minutes to get the connection. There are a couple of relatively minor issues I’m currently facing with this port. 1) the fingerprint stopped working after the first reboot. I got it back once (systemctl restart sailfish-fpd), but it stopped working again after next reboot and has not been working ever since (old fingerprints are gone and the sensor does not recognise when trying to add a new). 2) When using the camera, the flash goes off before the picture is taken, resulting in dark photos in low light conditions. 3) I can send but can’t receive any sms when connected to 4G network. The sms can be received by switching to 2G, but this is somewhat inconvenient when considering daily use (difficult to anticipate when someone sends an sms). On my xperia X I can both send and receive sms with 4G.

  1. the fingerprint stopped working after the first reboot - yes thats broken and I stated as much :stuck_out_tongue:
  2. When using the camera, the flash goes off before the picture is taken, resulting in dark photos in low light conditions - see this is weird i flashed the sfos on my enchilada and cannot get camera to work, others got camera to work so currently i’m bugged xd
  3. I can send but can’t receive any sms when connected to 4G network. - I have another use experiencing similar stuff, was kinda hoping its because of USA, didn’t test it myself but two users reporting it might sound an issue

Third point about SMS: you have to call your operator to disable VoLTE. Even though calls fall back to 3g/2g correctly, some messages do not get through. Especially authentication ones but true in general.
Tested this with two operators in Romania on other ports. VoLTE is not currently available for community ports, except Mediatek, and specific versions.
Hope that at least a binary release as fpd is will be made by Jolla for our use…

I blame USA again!

Yeah, you probably can’t disable VoLTE in all countries. If 2g/3g does not exist anymore, you are out of options.

  1. Thanks for letting me know, so I don’t spend more time trying to fix it  As per your initial post, I thought the fingerprint problem concerned only the 6t version. It’s interesting though that I managed to get the fingerprint back working once even after the first reboot, which makes me wondering what’s the issue.
  2. Too bad to hear that the camera is not working at all on your OP6. The flash timing is only a minor issue, I rarely use the flash in the first place.
  3. I also tried a different SIM card from a different carrier, with the same outcome (can only send sms with 4G). Both cards work flawlessly on my X.

Regarding fingerprints:

There was hoping  yeah in op6t fp won’t ever work but i was hoping its gonna work flawlessly in op6 but sadly while it works, it doesn’t so flawlessly. Will fix it later ofc

I will still fix it non the less

Do not forget there are around also mclaren editions of that device, that are equipped with heavy pumped HW specs!

Okay I’ve gotten camera to work on enchilada and yeah, the flash doesn’t flash, it lights up during focus but then simply doesn’t flash. I’ll of course investigate but i’m quite busy, need to update my apps and fix other ports

same with the fingerprint

It makes me super happy that people are actually getting the device and the port and that they’re happy with it, so far i got at least 5 people to try it, not sure how many of them are active users, still makes me so happy because that didn’t happen last time
nor the time before that
nor the time before that
nor the time before that
nor the time before that
nor the time before that
nor the time before that
nor the time before that
nor the time before that
nor the time before that
then there was g2, that one people still use

I have two OP6 phones. One is running postmarketos, the other your port of sfos (now as a daily driver  OP6 has a very capable hw.
