No way to distinguish Nextcloud accounts with same login name

DESCRIPTION:

When you have two or more Nextcloud accounts with the same login name, all accounts look the same.

PRECONDITIONS:

  • have accounts on two or more Nextcloud instances with the same login

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Add first Nextcloud account
  2. Add second Nextcloud account
  3. Try to interact with it, e.g. upload an image or add a contact

EXPECTED RESULT:

  • you can select the account you need

ACTUAL RESULT:

  • 50:50

When trying to create a contact (if you’re lucky you can judge by addressbook name unless it is default):

There are a few ways for a solution:
a) offer the user to specify a name
b) read the instance name from Theming capabilities (might still be duplicate if left to default)
c) use login@domain.name as indicator
d) a) if set, b) when no duplicates, c) as fallback

Point a) already works, you can actually change the account description in the settings.

Oh, true :speak_no_evil: Didn’t spot it although looking at it often… blame me being tired while it being late.

Alas, while the share dialogue picks it up, the People app does not seem to respect it. It continues to show the adressbook like in the screenshot. Didn’t try a reboot (but that should not need to be necessary).
