i’m also interested in a fix for this problem. Makes me crazy, not to hear a ringbacktone.

What’s even worse, it’s not just the normal ‘free’ tone but also busy tone and others (e.g. messages that the called party is currently busy and you should wait). You just don’t know what’s going on, all you get is silence until either someone picks up the call or it gets disconnected e.g. due to timeout.

I can also confirm this issue with VoLTE. Used to just disable it and make normal calls via GSM but now my operator in Sweden shut down the GSM (2G) network close to us and thus I need to use VoLTE to be able to make or receive calls at all.
FYI: you can still see on the screen if the receiver is busy, or the call can’t connect etc. even if the sound is disabled but it’s still very very annoying! There need to be ringback tones! Please make this a priority to fix in the next update Jolla!

This is one I’d like to also see fixed, As where I am 2g is already gone, and 3G is due to be shutdown in the coming months.
I have a Sony Experia 10 II (Sauna 4.6)
When I call a land line, no call back ring tone
When I call a cell Phone, get the call back ring tone
Is this because of VoLTE?

Same problem here, happened more often, which I guess will be because of increased VoLTE coverage.

Check it for you: switch it off and try it. On my Sony Xperia 10 II with Sailfish OS 4.6 I get a ringback tone with VoLTE switched off on the numbers where I get none.

Finally! This was actually one of the most frustrating bugs, that made me drop sailfish as a daily driver. Wonder why it took 3 years to fix it.
Hmm – today, 2025-10-02 I heard ringback tone when doing VoLTE call
Usually, with the same condition and os version, I have not heard the ringback tone.
10 III, 5.0.0.68, Finland (Espoo), Elisa
IIUC nothing has changed in phone side so could it be something in mobile network side (have to check whether power consumption has decreased and whether 4G after boot comes up in less than an hour (or 22 hours))
