No gps fix on xperia xa2

Hello sailfish users.

I am new in sailfishOS from 3 days ago. I installed sailfish on my Xperia XA2 (H4133). I have several problems with common usages. One of them is my phone don’t get a gps fix : I try gpsinfo (jolla store) and GPStest (Fdroid).

My version is SFOS 5.0.0.76. Before SFOS I used android on the same phone, and the GPS worked fine. For my tests I wait more than 10minutes but nothing.

Which parameters I must check? gps.conf?

Do I need to open the phone to clean the antenna connectors?

Thanks by advance of your advises.

Hello and welcome! Just to check, you have tried to get lock with GPS while standing outside without any obstacles? Does GPSinfo see the satellites?

Search forum. Try fix. Get fix. Easy.

You’re welcome

Hi,
Welcome,
Sometime it can be more than 10mn to the Xa2 to get a fix (it can be 1hour on mine sometimes). And it work really better outdoor.
You will found plenty of threads about that on the forum.
Have fun

OK,

I change the gps.conf to set NTP server to

NTP_SERVER=europe.pool.ntp.org

And I walked outdoor and it’s work.

Sorry before I only tested in front of a window.

One hour for a fix outside is not very normal for the XA2, would I say.
It perhaps needs a fix?
Let me find the links…

Hi, welcome.
Android is not really a reference, as it uses a lot of techniques for location.
Also, the XA2 has kind of a design weakness/fragility, making necessary to fix from time to time, depending on how it was smashed/shocked.

Here two threads with many informations on GPS.

Also, don’t forget to use the search tool before asking too early.
But don’t hesitate to ask if you searched :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks!
Your tuto is on on my task list for a while  But I found no time for that unfortunately.
But when the XA2 had a fix, it work well. Navigation with PureMap is really good.
