No address book selection when importing a vcf file

DESCRIPTION:

When importing a VCF file (from the filesystem, or from a received MMS), the new contact is created in the phone address book, even if other address books are configured on the system.

PRECONDITIONS:

A vcf file on the system

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Open a VCF file (either from filesystem, messages or email)

EXPECTED RESULT:

An overlay is displayed, allowing to select which address book the contact should be imported into. Then, the summary is displayed.

ACTUAL RESULT:

Nothing is displayed, the contact is directly added to the phone address book. A summary of the process is then displayed.

I must have missed one huge evolution stage: How am I supposed to be able to configure separate/multiple address books (with Sailfish X 4.3)?

You don’t. You don’t have to configure multiple address books. However, if you have a carddav, nextcloud or an exchange address book (which are configured under accounts), you now have the opportunity (since 4.0) to select in which address book a new contact is created. The address books are no longer merged together. And you can have as many carddav address books as you wish (nextcloud allows you to create more than one, and it works quite well with sailfish now).
