REPRODUCIBILITY: 100% in my case
OS VERSION: 5.2.0.22
HARDWARE: Jolla Phone 2
UI LANGUAGE: Polish
REGRESSION: probably not
DESCRIPTION:
I’ve added a Nextcloud account and enabled synchronization. Contacts synced perfectly, but photos were not downloaded to the phone at all.
PRECONDITIONS:
From what I read on the forum, it might be that problem exists only if Nextcloud photo folder is not “Photos”. In my case the name is translated to my language.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Add a Nextcloud account
Enable photo synchronization
EXPECTED RESULT:
Photos are downloaded to my device and synced from the server whenever new appear in the photo folder.
ACTUAL RESULT:
No photos are downloaedd.
MODIFICATIONS:
No patches
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
My expectation is Sailfish just does not support custom photo folder names. In case any additional data or logs needed, please instruct what can I supply and how to get it.
The Photos feature is currently not a sync feature.
Rather it shows NC photos in the Gallery app, and they are downloaded on-demand.
Therefore what you are seeing is not a bug.
However as mentioned, you may need to set a custom Photos path in the Accounts settings for this Gallery feature to work.
I recommend using a third-party app if you want actual sync of certain Albums toward the device.
There’s a couple of guides how to do that on the Forum.
I didn’t physically look for files on the device, just expected it to appear in the gallery. Indeed, I needed to change the directory. I didn’t find this option for some reason.
I’ll probably file an issue there though – I wouldn’t consider this an “advanced” option. Also, it would probably be better to hide from user the first DAV related part and offer a folder chooser instead.
