Nextcloud Notifications only work once after reboot

DESCRIPTION:

With an SFOS Nextcloud account, if you set notifications to on, then they only work once after a reboot. From that point on notifications no longer work.

PRECONDITIONS:

A working Nextcloud account

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. set up a Nextcloud account
  2. set Nextcloud notifications to on
  3. No notifications are displayed
  4. Reboot phone
  5. Outsanding notifications are didisplayed
  6. No further notifications are then ever displayed

EXPECTED RESULTS:

Nextcloud notifications are displayed whenever they are generated

ACTUAL RESULTS:

Notifications are only displayed once immediately after a reboot and then never again

MODIFICATIONS:

  • Patchmanager: yes
  • OpenRepos: yes
  • Chum: yes
  • Other: none specified

Can you please see if there is a buteo-oopp-runner job running and never finishing?

I have had this phenomenon a couple of times where some kind of configuration issues caused buteo to never finish the sync, and hence never start another scheduled one.

I have the same, no buteo processes running/hanging

Same here, no process running

Same with 4.6.0.15 (and earlier). Can’t remember it ever working (Xperia X, Xperia 10 III).

Same here! So this is not the Issue for anyone? I thought this is like well known and have this issue like since forever on all of my devices.

I also received no notifications from my Nextcloud instance. Is it required to have push notifications enabled on the server side for them to work, or should it follow the sync interval set up in the Nextcloud account settings?

Are there any news on this topic?
This bug is still present on JP2026 running on 5.2.0.17. I still receive the notification only once after reboot.
