Nextcloud app for SailfishOS 5.00.72

Hi all,

I’m new in sailfishOS and want to know what app can replace nextcloud android app.

I try sailsync from storeman but it doesn’t sync folders !

Another app maybe ? Thanks for advices.

I test SailfishOS X with Sony Xperia 10 II to replace all android app.

Try [Guide] Mount Nextcloud (WebDAV) folders locally with davfs

There is Nextcloud app in F-Droid. Or you can use native „Accounts” in Settings, but it’s not so handy..

I am using GhostCloud from Chum. I am still on 5.0.0.68, but I think it should work with the latest release, too.

Ghostcloud is an app similar to the official Nextcloud Android app. It supports browsing cloud folders, uploading and downloading files etc, but no real bi-drectional synchronization.

Sailsync Owncloud is an app similar to the Nextcloud desktop synchronization app, it supports bi-directional synchronization of configured folders. At some time, the app refused to work because the included cli component was too old for my Nextcloud instance.

Since Sailsync wasn’t working anymore, I switched to rclone for synchronizing my Xperia with my Nextcloud. Works very well after some one-time configuration effort.

On chum? I only found a version on OpenRepos. Not sure if it’s the most recent one: GhostCloud (aarch64) | OpenRepos.net — Community Repository System

Doesn’t the build in account allow you to sync to your cloud?

I am using CardDAV, CalDAV for contacts and calendar sync, Nextcloud Notes for notes and Cargo Dock app for file “sync”. Not an ideal setup, I wish OS provides better integration with Nextcloud.

Me too. But only file browsing. No sync so far. Or?

I am a bit confused to see system account for nextcloud being mentioned several times in different contexts. I thought that the nextcliud integration in sailfish was rather limited, with no sync but only the possibility to browse pictures on the server in the gallery app. Did this change at some point and I am not aware of this?

Yes, you are right. I use it to browse.
Syncing contacts is done with the built in functions of nextcloud account, the same with backups. Unfortunately i can not get the caldav working so this is done by a separate caldav/cardav account…

Well, it is limited, but you can ‘share’ to your nextcloud account from Gallery, for instance.

Not the same as sync. I kinda prefer doing rclone since I don’t want EVERY photo/video to be synced. But I do want ALL my contacts and calendar foo synced.

EDIT: I make a family album book every year for the … family. When I make that, I often go through the phone and upload to a specified directory on nextcloud using share in the gallery. But, sometimes I just sync all the lastest stuff with rclone. Not sure which method I prefer.

Sadly you can just share single picture, there is no support for a multi-selection so far.

Nevertheless there are several other apps that work with Nextcloud, so hopefully especially since the Nextcloud Account part was moved to open source there may be more apps in the future that can access a Nextcloud instance by using the system account settings.

Exactly. It might be one task I look at since it’s a nice discrete thing.

Tighter Nextcould integration would be very cool to have since all(???) parts are open.

Ie gallery sync, notes sync and maybe more fancy stuff.

(and i’d like a nextcloud cookbook app)

Yeah, I think it’d be a winner for sure. A lot of stuff is already in place so it might not be such heavy lifting …

Don’t we already have a notes app? What I really miss is a Tasks/To-do app.

Here you go:

I’d even like it if the media player could play music that you have on nextcloud.

Its easy to even have nextcloud running on your laptop. And there are ways to be accesible without dyndns or domains or whatever.
