Next gen native Camera app RAWfish

If you’re talking about the grid pattern, it’s easy to reproduce that in low light conditions.

Quite exited about the development of RAWfish  Can’t wait it to land in Harbour/Chum, maybe even replace the native camera app altogether one day

I have a suggestion for the size list options:

Could you place the aspect ratio after each resolution, like this?

1920 × 1080 (16:9)

And additionally, it might be helpful to provide visual feedback (small icon) showing the sensor dimensions as a square, along with the crop applied when selecting a resolution like this:

Very nice progress. Only noticed that there is huge delay until photo is captured in compare to alpha3 even on iso and speed on auto without peek or zebra

also portrait photos are displayed roted in photos preview or sometime stretched to bad aspect ratio. Anyway they are fine in jolla gallery.

also nice to see full 50mpix resolution for jpeg, will be possible to get raw in full resolution too, or it has no sense for quality and details copared to pixelbinded 12.5mpix photo?

edit: delay is almost not there for 2.4mm lens

yes, this will make the resolution list much more clear

Yes, it takes much longer now but it does seem that most of the waiting time is after the image has been taken and just some processing is going on. It is not clear to me when one can stop holding still in the current version.

Negative, verify by push shutter and move with phone photo is taken after delay

Confirm, same here. No dng metadata

This is amazing!
great work!

Even though, I don’t think it is important how many channels are clipped, as long as the over all dynamic range is fine…

I used denoised (profiled) with my own settings, based on generic denoise profile in combination with RAW denoising:

About Lensfun, I followed the instructions found here to build a vignette profile with mid-exposed white DNG pics from the JP2.

~/.local/share/lensfun/jolla-phone-2026-cam0.xml Jolla Jolla Phone (2026) Jolla Phone (2026) jolla-phone-2026-cam0 6.9 Jolla Standard Jolla Phone (2026) camera0 jolla-phone-2026-cam0 6.9 4:3 rectilinear

However, I didn’t find the out-of-the-box result very exciting, but I might have missed something in how to use it.

If you want to try it, we’ll perhaps learn something, as I am not a post-processing specialist.

fiat imago 1.0 is on OpenRepos now, and I still need help testing

The RAW editor for RAWfish files that you may have seen on GitHub is now on OpenRepos too, so it is a normal install. It develops the RAW files RAWfish saves with a live preview (exposure, curves, colour, crop, perspective, looks) and exports a JPEG.

I have tested it on my own phone, but I can only test what my phone produces. If you use RAWfish, could you help me confirm two things?

  1. RAW8, RAW10 and RAW12 all open and look right. Pick each format in RAWfish, take a picture, open it in imago. If one looks wrong (colour cast, odd stripes, black, or it does not open), tell me which format and which phone.
  2. Your photos are found on the memory card. imago looks in Pictures, Pictures/RAWfish and the DCIM folders on a memory card. If your RAWfish photos are saved to the card and do not show up, tell me where RAWfish put them.

A short reply is plenty: phone model, format, worked or not.
A reply here: Fiat - a new series of small apps :) is just as welcome.

Last time I’ll mention it, just thought it was an okay idea since it’s out on storeman now

Now I’ll stop dilute the thread

Trying to check but with the new alpha build capture fails with a scrolling error about camera2 helper failed. Can’t screenshot while using the app, where do the logs go?

Also bracketing goes
0, 4, 2, 6
And a lot of text is cropped in the advanced interface. Renderer has just ‘ast JP’ visible.
Also… Time lapse feature, :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:?

Also sometime made a post about the heavily pronounced edge distortion on the wide, i guess that’s very fixable with the right correction profile?

Hmm… I tried devel-su rpm -ivh rawfish-1.3.1-9.aarch64.rpm

and I got a “conflicts” error:

file /usr/libexec/droid-hybris/system/lib64 from install of rawfish-1.3.1-9.aarch64 conflicts with file from package droid-hal-jp2601-0.0.6-202609172123.aarch64

Have you already tried with pkcon?

pkcon install-local rawfish-1.3.1-9.aarch64.rpm

Thanks, pkcon did the job (albeit requiring devel-su).

So, as a first quick test, I compared the “50Mp” output of a Samsung A26 5G (a pretty good camera, if you don’t need zoom; always got good results even in poor light conditions) and the “5.9mm” of the JP26. Took a few pics from both, to the same subject, in somewhat poor light, both using defaults (auto exposure, auto white balanced). Then compared what I believe were the best ones.

The exifdata of the A26 jpeg image reports 8160×6120 (49.93Mp) using f/1.8 and 1/25sec with ISO1000.

The exifdata of the JP26 jpeg reports 6144×8192 (50.33Mp) using f/1.8 and 1/20sec with ISO2788.

All those ~50Mp were around 11-13 Mb size 8-bit sRGB and saved at JPEG quality level “92%”. The JP26 were oriented “top left” instead of “right top”. Amusingly, the RAWfish exif:Software field reported “RAWfish 1.3.1-5“.

While the A26 image looks a bit better (and slightly less light) because of the shorter shutter speed and lower ISO, the JP26 performed surprisingly well with plenty of detail in decently lighted areas, way better than the 12Mp mode (that is even worse than the crappy A26 “12Mp” mode).

So the “5.9mm” is the upper camera, the “2.4"mm” is the lower camera (12.5Mp), and the “3.8mm” is the selfie camera (showing an upside-down view, 4928×6560, 32Mp).

RAWfish basically unlocked new Jolla Phone 2026 features.

I am very interested in Rawfish but no developer just a user of JP2. I scrolled this topic but could not find if the app is available for download in Chum or Storeman. Or do I have to subscribe to a dev.forum?

as the app is in early state, there is no reason to publish it on openrepos or chum. basically time spent on publishing there is better to invest in development
also the chum approval take some time from maintainers, so it is not focused on frequent updates (except the testing repository what could be updated quickly, but testing repository is not for regular users…)
get it from Releases · Logic-gate/RAWfish · GitHub
personally i reverted to Alpha 3 for daily use (for jp2026 not the -testing version!), just because Alpha 4 has big delay between shutter and capturing photo
