Pamp it!

About the replaceable battery; would it be a custom form (hence to be ordered from Jolla only)? Would it be something available from elsewere too (ie off the shelve)? If the shape is going to be custom; will overs & screenprotectors be provided?

Good idea! Battery should have a standard format, so that replacement is easy to get.

Don’t forget to order spare batteries

A ‘standard’ battery is only plausible if the phone industry together decides to unify batteries. Like happened when the EU forced Apple to use a stanfard cable. Now every brand has its own battery isn’t it? It is part of the design. Gigaset’s (Volla’s) batteries differ from Google’s Pixel and iPhone’s batteries etc. Fairphone has its own.
Most likely Jolla will sell its own batteries too.

I really hope for the headphone jack, good GPS and Stereo sound.

And if it should have a chance to become a real European phone it must fit the usual European needs - so now low spec phone please!

I’d like to have a phone I can use without lags - and as others already said quality has its price, and the longer I will be able to use that the later I need to buy a new one - so more money for a better, longer usable phone would be the much better decision to my mind.

@Jolla perhaps it would be helpful to know how much we would be willing to pay for such a real Jolla 2 phone. I think that knowledge may significantly increase the options for specs and features.

I didn’t talk about standardization between manufacturers, I wrote about using industry standard cells, e.g. this:

also this:

edit: @Jolla : Did you talk to Conrad Electronic regarding retail to customers??

We don’t have it all confirmed yet but in general sub 6.5" does not mean low resolution and we’re looking it to be an AMOLED panel.

Not too small, please. XA2 Plus format would be perfect.

Please make spares available (batteries, displays, cases, screen protectors, USB port boards).

Is replacing the 3.5 mm jack with a second USB-C port impossible?

Are we respecificating the device again? Please don’t.

If one bell or whistle is missing: take it.

I strongly suspect, if they state that a 3.5 jack does not fit in due to space limitations, the same will be the case for a second usb port.

Please don’t repeat all the wishes from the other thread, they can be read there and Jolla obviously already did

I just can’t be more excited about this! <3

Having read all the posts, I like to confirm that I very much agree with your (Jolla’s) conclusion on our feedback. HW specs and thus implicitly the price to expected would make the next Community Phone highly attractive for me - Maybe it will be more than a mere Community Phone at the end. There is definitely a need for such phone in Europe. Many non-techies (journalists and politicians) I have spoken to (and shown my Xperias with SFOS) would like to see a “European” alternative to the other big two.

More important than HW specs is a proper HW adaptation, i.e. as little bugs and missing features as possible (from a software perspective) to thus provide an as good as possible user experience where Sailfish OS works as it is supposed to.

Therefore I am happy if Jolla has a feasible HW adaptation in mind, in particular concerning blobs etc. This may be more important than some hardware detail.

I realize of course a lot of things need to be done before there’s an actual device, but still… Good news! Thank you, Jolla!

Dept of Changing One’s Mind: After using my 10III for a while, I have found that the size and proportions don’t bother me as much as I thought they would. So I no longer feel a new device has to be smaller than this. (The C2, however, still feels huge and I have not been able to comfortably have it as my daily.)

No, it does not. A USB port is slimmer. Please don’t tell me what to say and what not to say.

I’m with you with not respicifating a device (which isn’t fully specified yet  ), but I think it’s fair to ask about a feature that jolla says they want ( https://irclogs.sailfishos.org/meetings/sailfishos-meeting/2024/sailfishos-meeting.2024-11-28-08.00.txt ) in this context.
And, to be more precise: when this is not on the horizon and not even a word about it, even if there’s fully own HW again, this would be the first jolla device (and including a lot of licenses for all the Sonys) where I’d be out, and maybe also won’t come back.

Are you referring to AppSupport bluetooth support? If so I’d like to clarify that AppSupport bluetooth support is not a hardware feature. If you are not referring to that, please clarify and elaborate.

Yepp.
People are moving the idea around that it might be realized with a doubled bluetooth HW, so I’m unsure if that’s a hw feature or not (obviously there are different options), but that’s what I’ve been asking about, and why I’ve been asking it here, in case it is planned to realize it with extra HW.

Good to clarify that we’re not planning to add extra hardware to fix Android bluetooth support.
