New binaries / blobs for Xperia V and IV : What is happening actually?

No, it’s not. By far.

Data do not work at all with Vodafone and TIM. With Iliad they work, but they only start working in 3G and after having switched off and on again data, and if you switch to 4G or 5G they will stop working altogether after a while.

My current opinion is that the X10III is the worst SFOS port ever.

Not the X10III. Your X10III. For you.

My X10III is the best SFOS port ever. For me.

I also happen to like more relevant comments then yours and this one I am writing on my X10III with 4G on Vodafone.

Vodafone in Italy?

Feel free to come and test here.

By the way, in Germany there is NO WAY to connect with ANY provider with an Italian SIM card.

This is hardly a “best SFOS port ever”, for you or for anybody.

Been there. Did that. Bought the TShirt. Although with a German Vodafone SIM. And it was a XA2 the last time I visited Italy. But I am so sure, the 10III will work as in many other European Countries.

I only once had a roaming problem one year in Austria. Never happened before, did not happen again. New Year 2023.

SF just worked in:

Poland, Slovakia, Tchech Rep., Italy, Switzerland, Ireland, England, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Portugal, Austria (one exception)…

It’s not the phone. It’s not SF. It’s you, your phone, your SIM or Italy.

All I want to say is: YMMV.

I had the X, XA2 an 10III from the first day of support for Sony devices. Unexpected needs to reboot or restart a service, loss of sound, reboots when roaming… shit happens but I can live with that.

I have an idiot phone with Lineage just in case and for foolish things.

And I have iPhones for my job which reminds me of the things I seriously not want.

Yea, for me, it was plug and play, so to speak.

It could be that mobile-broadband-provider-info/mobile-broadband-provider-info/serviceproviders.xml at master · sailfishos/mobile-broadband-provider-info · GitHub needs a update, this is a list over the serviceproviders and some info that is needed to make a smooth experience.

The X10III does not work with Italian SIMs.

This is a flaw, because all other phones do. Also other SFOS phones.

A port that is not usable in a country cannot be the “best SFOS port”.

Can we go back to the original topic?

We have many users on the italian fan club with a 10iii, so i suppose it’s working…

People talking of whatever the 10 III is best port or not. TBH I believe that best port was for XA2, as there is very little usual bugs and almost none that is affecting 10 III (Dissappearing audio for example).

What we should focus on is 10 V and IV, btw is there any new info?
We all feel left behind. In my case to the point Im gonna leave soon. If jolla wont speed up and really communicate with us what is happening I’m gonna pay for Google pixel and go with graphene os. This is a lot of money for newer device but if jolla doesnt want my moeny those will go somwhere else.

They confirmed yesterday in the community meeting that they are preparing post about progress. From a few sentences they already shared there will be some good news.

The first info about SFOS for Xperia IV/V was in Spring 2024. Officially the work is started later. But it’s not it what I will say. The post about 10IV/V has been promised in May (before the holidays time). It’s about 5/6 months and nothing happens. How should the message look? Again, Sony could not deliver right blobs? I’m adult and no child anymore. I’m waiting until this month and sell the smartphone. It’s money what I invested in my drywer.

Sorry, but the narrative you use don’t make me think you’re an adult.
Stop whining and buy C2, or X10iii instead. It’s done, when it’s done!

I could argue that buying old 10 III or total failure which is C2 is childish. Why? Buying 10 III which after a years have too many unresolved bugs or C2 that is slower than 7 years old XA2 is not a viable option. It is only (however bad) alternative.

On the other hand, beliving in what jolla said is childish too. I feel like a child that was promissed but not given.

Yeah. Let’s wait for the announcement and see. Afterwards we can gather our pitchforks.

The XA2 was awesome. I think perhaps people mean that the 10 III is the best current port.

I switched from a XA2 to a C2 and cannot confirm that the C2 feels slower. It is not fast, but faster than a XA2 (for me).

As someone who has upgraded from XA2 to x10iii, I must confirm your argument would be baseless.
The speed and snappyness of the x10iii are outstanding and even better than those of C2.

Feelings can be deceptive.

I have a Sony XZ2 Compact with a fast Snapdragon 845 and a Jolla C2, both running SFOS 5.0.0.70.
Yes, the UI on the C2 can feel less snappy under high CPU load, and the built-in delays appear to need adjustments to match the experience on faster hardware.
App execution on the XZ2 Compact is sometimes about ~1 second faster, so the difference isn’t dramatic.

I would say the Jolla C2 is on a good path and would be a good daily driver for me, especially with its excellent battery life of up to 2 days under normal use.

No doubt that 10 III is faster than C2. Especially in android apps. I belive people who says that C2 isnt that slow (but they dont say it is fast) because they refuse to belive that it is in fact really really low end device as has nothing to offer in terms of performance.

But to the fast 10 III. It is fast but when you daily drive it for 2 years and had a chance to feel performance of 10 V than you feel that 10 III is just ok, but lacks here and there.

And to starting apps. Some devices can start an app much faster but real question is how fast app becomes stable and usable. This was in my case very bad expirience
