My Jolla Mind2 is dead

My JollaMind2 is dead.
I let it run for three days and the light went off.
It won’t start again. I have tried with another power supply.
Is there possibly a fuse in the circuit after USB-C receptacle?
Is this a known issue? Is there work around to boot it up again?

Better contact support on this.

Is there a battery in it? Sorry I have no idea. If yes, getting it out of zeroland can be a hassle and/or take a long time.

But yeah, contact support.

Your device probably still works. Some other users and myself from the Discord channel run into the same issue and send it back to Jolla for repair (need to RMA it via ZenDesk).

That being said if you have some self-powered USB-C docking station laying around (the ones you use to connect keyboard, mouse, display, network and other USB devices with your laptop via Thunderbolt / USB4) you should try to connect that to your USB-C port of the Mind 2. In my case I could connect to the device via SSH, got video, mouse and network running through the docking station. My conclusion was that some power rail must have been broken as the USB-C ports Vcc is obviously dead no longer powering my HDMI dongle. However, data lines are still working and that’s why the self-powered docking station did the trick.

Whatsoever, before the device went dead the led stripes flickered like hell and eventually went off completely. This also looks like a failing part to me for power regulation like a buck converter. It happens to me running the device idle with no load on the CPU for 48hs :frowning: .

I had direct contact to support that acknowledged my problem with the device. However, as there is no use with the current pre-alpha (PoC) software stack on the device I opted to wait until a new alpha/beta release will be published and to have it fixed and flashed with that version before sending it back to me. Well, this was June 2025 and many of the first Mind2 early adopters are waiting for the promised update to arrive.
