My first Xperia 10 III and first time trial of SailFish

No idea how it works, but if I don’t notice a difference why can’t I see my User files in Total Commander or MiXplorer? By all means, explain. I’m learning.
Just got the system new installed with my own account after finally sorting out copying the user data to my SD Card, although with the File browser in the Jolla Market place. But I still wanna know if it is possible, if it is the same, how to see my data in other file managers!

I don’t notice? I need to put a password into the phone because of it every single time I start it up!!! Don’t I??? You think my life is so abundance with time so I have the time to put in a number for the usage of my phone?

Your tone does not make me particularly inspired to help. Nor does the sea of opinionated misconceptions i’d have to wade through to get anywhere. But first of all, dont’t think that Android apps can handle your native app data.

And reflashing shouldnt be required to enable access to licensed content.

Because someone probably set this that way some 7 years ago and nobody touched it ever since.

Jolla is not Apple or Google with thousands of employees. There are far more burning issues they have to focus their meager resources on than some default search engine settings anyone can override for themselves.

How often do your restart your device for this to be an issue?
This is not Android, I regularly have an uptime of several weeks or months sometime.

I don’t have a clue what you are talking about and what user data you may mean.
I never used Android so can’t tell where the Android apps store their data but for the Sailfish part, It’s a regular Linux machine. Just ssh/sftp into that thing and copy everything out of your /home/defaultuser directory like a normal person

@rainemak answered this question in this thread. tl;dr: licensing issues.

DDG is still a big US company with everything that entails. It’s objectively more private than Google, but not by as much as some people like to think.

Why wouldn’t it? It’s the best search engine and that’s the default. You can change it to whatever you want very easy without any restrictions.
With sailfish you can avoid Google and other big monopolies if you want. It’s an option, not the point of the OS.

I think you are mixing up sailfish with all these new fancy “degoogled” android customs roms. It has nothing to do with them.

As Jolla said in one of their blog post, SFOS is about giving user choices :slightly_smiling_face:

You got me.
I am a Google executive and I’m here because i want to destroy jolla from inside.
Damn you Scooby-Doo, I would have succeeded if you weren’t here!

Come on guys… the nickname was a dead giveaway.

Really hoping that, someday, you will realize that SFOS basically runs Android (yes, your “evil gugol”) under the hood.

This IRC log is severely disturbing.

I invite you to buy an iPhone to avoid all of the issues you are having.

Well this thread is freaking weird. I think the community is getting grumpy of late.

Err no it doesn’t.

Userland in SF is default_user/

If you’re running App Support, Android’s userland is kept seperately under defaultuser/android_storage/
Because Android is basically endless spyware, it cannot access SF userland.

Google is on most browers because they literally pay developers to put it on there. I’m not sure if Jolla get anything though.

SF doesn’t work that well out of the box eg both the big store “Storeman” and its replacement “Chum” are inaccessible. You literally have to download them from openrepos.net, allow third party installation and install them manually.
There’s usually a way to do whatever you want. If you can’t find it via Search, ask here really nicely.

Let me guess, you get banned from places, like a lot?
