I don’t think this will solve your problem, but perhaps it will allow you to overcome it: there is an USB Switch app for Sailfish OS that allows you to pick and change USB connection mode after connection.
The application is litteralily name “USB Switch” by Jens Clingen (@jklingen), who also authored “Space Inspector” and “SuperSailPass”. I installed it from official Jolla Store.
Long shot, maybe. Could the USB port on your phone or computer be dirty? I’m speculating that the phone falls back to charging only, when it doesn’t detect data capability.
tried it witch air and the with a wooden toothpick and a papertussue with alcohol while the Phone was off.
I also tried out different computers and different ports. to me it looks more and more that the usbc connector on the phone is broken… don’t want to dismantle the thing before there is a working x10V available. but that will take a while…
if that USB Datatransfer is not working then i need an other way to transfer all my data to my computer without it…
That happens, unfortunately. I’ve read reports of people replacing a board holding the USB connector. No idea what phone models this applies to - or if it’s at all feasible to attempt on your own.
You have to enable Developer Mode in Settings - System - Developer Tools.
There, enable Developer Mode and Remote Connection and set a password.
Then connect the phone to your WLAN and give a static address.
Now it should be possible to SFTP from your computer to
Server: Phone’s IP address
Username: defaultuser
Password: The one you set in Dev Tool settings.
using a SFTP program, e.g. FileZilla.
