I don’t think this will solve your problem, but perhaps it will allow you to overcome it: there is an USB Switch app for Sailfish OS that allows you to pick and change USB connection mode after connection.

without a name it is hard to find something…

The application is litteralily name “USB Switch” by Jens Clingen (@jklingen), who also authored “Space Inspector” and “SuperSailPass”. I installed it from official Jolla Store.

The repo is here: GitHub - jklingen/harbour-usb-switch: A simple USB mode switcher for SailfishOS

Perhaps the problem is that the app has no 64 bits version for your phone arch, I am happily using it on XA2 with armv7hl.

What is set for USB mode in the settings under USB?

i tried every possible setting… currently its MTP. but it does not matter what option is chosen, always the same outcome… charging…

Long shot, maybe. Could the USB port on your phone or computer be dirty? I’m speculating that the phone falls back to charging only, when it doesn’t detect data capability.

i cleaned the usb port with alcohol… then restart and nothing changed…

I think you mean charging.

Have you tried various USB cables and various USB ports on your computer?

Are you sure the alcohol cleaned your phone’s USB port sufficiently? Not sure how you’d get in there to clean it out. Personally I prefer canned air.

yes of course i mean charging…

tried it witch air and the with a wooden toothpick and a papertussue with alcohol while the Phone was off.

I also tried out different computers and different ports. to me it looks more and more that the usbc connector on the phone is broken… don’t want to dismantle the thing before there is a working x10V available. but that will take a while… :frowning:

if that USB Datatransfer is not working then i need an other way to transfer all my data to my computer without it… :frowning:

Totally possible via SSH if you connect the computer to the phone’s WiFi (Hotspot).

sorry, never did that before. would need a step by step explanation… do you have a link to that? thanks!

That happens, unfortunately. I’ve read reports of people replacing a board holding the USB connector. No idea what phone models this applies to - or if it’s at all feasible to attempt on your own.

You have to enable Developer Mode in Settings - System - Developer Tools.
There, enable Developer Mode and Remote Connection and set a password.
Then connect the phone to your WLAN and give a static address.

Now it should be possible to SFTP from your computer to
Server: Phone’s IP address
Username: defaultuser
Password: The one you set in Dev Tool settings.
using a SFTP program, e.g. FileZilla.

If not, first try rebooting the phone.
