REPRODUCIBILITY: always

HARDWARE: Xperia 10 III
UI LANGUAGE: English
REGRESSION: no
DESCRIPTION:
MMS downloads work, but take many many attempts. When I receive an MMS, it invariably fails to download. I start the download again, then try the following things in combination, waiting various amounts of time:
- disable wifi (or sometimes, in despair, enabling wifi)
- restart mms-engine
- restart ofono
- change MMS IPv4 => IPv6 => dual
- change mobile data IPv4 => IPv6 => dual
It generally takes about 5 full minutes to work. Sometimes, the MMS will download the instant a stop ofono, indicating that it had already downloaded correctly and was just hanging on ack or something. More often, restarting mms-engine will cause it to work fairly normally after about 5 seconds.
This happens regardless of MMS size. Text-only MMS messages have the same symptoms as 1MiB MMS messages.
PRECONDITIONS:
Receive an MMS
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
It seems to be reliable to do just the following:
- hit cancel download
- disable wifi + set mobile=IPv4 + set mms=Dual + restart ofono
- hit download mms + restart mms-engine + restart ofono
- then, in a loop: restart mms-engine + download mms, maybe about 20 times.
EXPECTED RESULT:
MMS downloads on the first attempt, or better yet, automatically, without failing.
ACTUAL RESULT:
MMS takes 20+ attempts to download.
MODIFICATIONS:
No relevant modifications.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Attached is one attempt, just now, taking the path in steps-to-reproduce. It downloaded correctly in the end. I don’t know enough about networking, especially IPv6/CLAT/etc to tell if there is anything relevant in it.
