MicroG screen lock set loop

I have a blocker for me to start using my Jolla 2026 as my primary phone. I have some Android apps that requires me to set a screen lock. MicroG also notifies me about finishing my setup.

On notifications I get announcement by MicroG saying “Action required, Your Google account needs additional setup”.

Then cliking that into the settings I’m in the “Finish setting up your Google account” view and “Configure secure screen lock”.

When clicking that, I’m in the “Security and privacy” view having “Device may be at risk” warning with “Set a screen lock” button.

When setting that by either PIN code or pattern, I get notified on lower screen that “Screen lock was already changed, try again with the new screen lock”.

However, trying new screen lock gives me same response.

I am in a loop with no way out with this issue. I can’t remove MicroG to reinstall it, since it says that it can’t be uninstalled

I did not find any topics in the forum specifically about this issue, only a mention on n.5 at Jolla Phone : First Experiences, Pros and Cons - #242 by Kanthal

Any tips to get this fixed?

Search before posting? Android screen lock has been discussed before.

OP said he did search… Won’t help to just say search more or what do you think? Would you find that to be useful tip?

@finjodler here is thread about issue and workaround that might help: Unable to set lock pin for Android apps requiring it - #61 by nekron

Can you mark this as solution and close this thread?

Could you, in the future, please either not answer, or answer with some example thread, instead of just with “this has been discussed before”? I understand your frustration about reading the same topics over and over, but this is an problem as old as internet forums as a whole.

I cannot count the amount of times I searched something, found a thread exactly about my issue, just to be greeted with “nah, this has been discussed before, do your research” …

Answers like that not only “punish” the one posting the repeated topic, but also complicate and prolong research for everyone else in the future.

This solution don’t work in my phone (J2). It doesn’t set the display lock and tells something like: “displaylock allready has ben changed. Try it with the new Disp…” (can’t read ahead).

Has someone with better skills than me tested this successfully on the J2?

It doesn’t work with all Android Apps, but you may try this: Unable to set lock pin for Android apps requiring it - #61 by nekron

What about AppSupport lockscreen support | OpenRepos.net — Community Repository System

This one makes an infinite installscreen on Storeman and a “Installation failed” when I tryed to install the Download from Openrepos.

Thanks for the useful comments. The search indeed sucks, good that there are forum members with search index in their head.

Continuing my troubleshooting on the correct topic.

I marked the solution, but I’m not sure what you mean by closing the thread?

Might then be admin option to closed threads so that people can read this but not write anymore

Having the same problem. Don’t see a working solution in the linked posts.
