Main Site Feedback: Jolla.com should be updated for J2 Launch and new blog category

I know this stuff easily takes the back burner and I have no insight on how any of the site is managed (hopefully by marketing!), but…

Landing Page

Hero Banner

The landing page of the website currently has the now outdated “Jolla Phone Day1” banner for July 8th launch event. Could do with updating the banner, such as featuring a different profile (such as front or angled profile showing front + privacy switch) of the phone and link to Jolla Phone (Sep 2026) – Jolla Shop – Fresh CTA would be good.

To be honest, I’d probably try replicating a lot of the material from the commerce page over to a dedicated page on the main Jolla website, then have two CTA buttons (one for “More Details” that goes to the main site page then a Buy that goes to commerce).

I’m not expecting like iPhone 17 Pro levels of webpage here, but man is the site sorely missing a “look potential Jolla customer, here’s a fancy page with details about our unique, European phone!” page. The Jolla website is understandably largely targeted at enterprise, but surely a better balance can be struck!

Product Listing

“Our Products” listing has “Community Phones” with explicit mention of C2, maybe good to replace that block w/ a new J2 one and move it from 4th position to 3rd (before AI computers). A layout refresh by marketing probably wouldn’t be such a bad thing.

News page

Maybe worth finding a place to link to the “Official Jolla Blog” category? The Official Jolla Blog - Sailfish OS Forum

The Sailfish OS could also do with a refresh with J2 launch and if there is anything notable in 5.2 that is worth mentioning? :person_shrugging:

If/when they have the time, perhaps they could have an RSS feed on blog.jolla.com where their entries from the Forum appear, as described here: About the The Official Jolla Blog category - #3 by Acorn7516

While at picking on outdated information…

I got into a discussion about Jolla not open sourcing parts of Sailfish OS over at Mastodon. Something that clearly isn’t true. But they were pointing at outdated information on the Jolla and SailfishOS sites: Elk

I hope these things can be fixed. Even though I know that there is not enough time in the world to fix all things that people point at and argue about. And yes, you have done the right things in the right order: Finalizing the phone and starting shipping it. Now take a well-deserved summer holiday! Hopefully you will find time to update this and that on your website when back

This topic is really relevant, was about to do similar. I also went to jolla.com today and did not find a link to buy J2. They really should update the page and add link to buy J2 to make this easier to the customers.

Looking at that Elk thread, wow, Imagine if these people actually did some research before posting.

Anyways, i agree that the homepage really need some sweat, blood and tears, it really deserves/needs it.

Not sure how you mean that? Core parts of SfOS are closed source, and I don’t see that changing (except for a few utilities: maybe one is opensourced and a few more are on the way?).

Sorry I cannot parse this toot stream for relevant info.
