Mail App and mailbox.org

I try to add an mailbox.org acc, but the Mailapp send me always to update my mailbox credentials “needs to be update”. I couldn’t setup imap and smtp server. The mailapp doesn’t accept it. And MFA is current deactivated for setup! I set an active sync pw too. But it doesn’t works too!!! I think this is an Mailapp issue!

Please help Jolla, i need the mail app for buisness. And in October the new Jolla Phone comes, all is so far so good with Sailfish Os. But it needs a lot of work and improvements that everything works OTB!

Thanks, Zekii

In case you have enabled two-factor authentication: Are you using an app-specific password or are you trying to use your main password to login?

Create a separate email app password in mailbox.org settings > security. This password should not be stored anywhere, but only used once to setup smtp and imap4 accounts.

mailbox.org has been working well with SFOS for many years. Use ssl port 993 for imap, and ssl port 465 for smtp.

Could it be caused by this bug Can't add email account (IMAP) - #17 by dcaliste

It’s fixed for 5.2.0.16, so at the moment it’s a no go for the email.

Authentification error! Same as before. No luck! Verzweiflung

Account needs to be updated.

mailbox.org has Exchange support, so until Jolla fixes the IMAP/SMTP configuration (and if you have a Sailfish license which includes Exchange), you can set up your mailbox.org account using the Exchange method and the server “office.mailbox.org”.

One annoying thong with the Exchange sync, though, is that I seemingly can only sync mail that is newer than 1 month (you can set even shorter, but not longer). To some, that’s probably a good thing or a non-issue, but I recently found myself searching for a message and couldn’t find it because it’s too old. But it’s better than not having my mail at all.

Also posteo.de has started doing this on Pispala.

I just successfully set up my mailbox.org account in the default mail app, but as far as I could find there is no way of reading encrypted emails, is that correct? It does show that the mails are encrypted, but I don’t see an option to decrypt anywhere, and also couldn’t find any kind of pgp key manager.

In the meantime I’ve installed Thunderbird from f-droid.

The connection is (most likely) encrypted.

You mean encrypting the mail itself. That should be possible too.

Decryption is possible since 5.0.0.

Also try devel-su pkcon install jolla-email-crypto-gnupg though I have currently no means of checking how this works.
