If I use the AH app on my Jolla 2 in the store, I have to log in to the AH wifi network. The phone then goes to a screen that says "ipv4.jolla.com”. But then nothing happens. Nothing happens either directly at the wifi setting. The outcome is that I cannot scan groceries with the phone and I have to use a separate handholdscandevice again. Something I think is too much hassle.
Oh with the Jolla c2 I had also this problem too. What am I doing wrong?
I don’t know about this Albert Heijn, but in my region a lot of stores and supermarkets nowadays employ people they call “cashiers”. And the cool thing is, when you are done deciding what you want to buy, you just put the items on this conveyor belt and the “cashier” picks each one up and just scans it for you. No need to juggle a handheld scanner or have a probably privacy-invading app on your phone. Isn’t that neat?
Sorry, I just don’t get why anybody would want to use these sort of apps of their own free will…
Anyway, ipv4.jolla.com sounds like it could be an attempt to verify internet access and if you really need to login, that attempt should redirect you to a captive portal asking for your login. No idea why that isn’t working, though.
Nowadays in the Netherlands there are very few (AH) supermarkets left with “cashiers”. Almost all check-outs are self-scan portals. We call that progress
Even better actually is just ordening online and then it just comes to your home (7 days a week). But that was not the point now.
Gronde
To me this has nothing to do with real progress. Supermarkets and other businesses (Ikea) aim at making more profit by firing human workers and by digitalisation plus collecting as many data about customers as possible. Products are not cheaper. Actually customers are in service of their business this way.
We are going to the market and to organic shops and specialists. We only buy as much as we need, taking our own packaging with us. Easier and less waste.
