I like the overall philosophy of stock apps like the browser and the media player. The options are limited but in return the important stuff is very easy to reach. In the browser, when you click on the address bar, you immediately get a list of bookmark icons, an option to see the browsing history or simply enter an address or search term.
In the media player, the integration of the album covers make it look very neat as well. Without all the graphical and animation bloat of an Apple liquid glass for example. It is really just a list of albums etc that you can play, with an option of creating new playlists. That’s it. Works also fine with FLAC.
This is of course a double edged sword but If you are looking for that kind of experience it is actually really nice.

50€ was the replacement battery for the new Jolla. I bought an extra one just in case at the event in Helsinki. Battery life is more than enough, after testing now for.a week. In comparison to the Jolla C2, it lasts almost as long. The C2 ia still better in terms of battery life if no background process gets wild.m

Just simply changing ambiences. The change to the whole UI colour is super satisfying - especially as i like to change things up often. I remember seeing a similar thing on Android but it didn’t look anywhere near as good.

I love the SFOS design and look’n’feel.
I love the consistent appearance of native apps and easy switch via the ambiences.
I love that the OS is a Linux OS so easily compatible with my Linux PCs.
I love this OS to enable me to use a powerful mobile platform independent from the crappy US duopoly and agent orange silent switch potential.
I love the passion of the Jolla team.
I love to be part of the community
…ah and my community port SFOS works with wonderful big and bright screen

Double tap to wake up the screen is a simple thing but I missed it in all other phones since the first Jolla (JP1 from 2013). I’m very glad to have this feature again. I really don’t like having to press the power button to unlock the screen.
Also the side-mounted finger print reader is great. This time, it seems a lot more reliable working than on the Xperia’s.

I like that it doesn’t disturb me, if or when I don’t want to be disturbed. Privacy is the most important thing to me.
You can’t get that from big tech OS… no way.

I’m still on the 10 III while I wait for my new phone, but something I’ve only just tried that i don’t know how i did without is the Partnerspace feature.
Enabled and configured with the ‘Karuselli’ app from OpenRepos, I have Notes > Settings > Emails always at hand when swiping from the right.
It’s not something that works well with every app (eg i don’t think the browser would work well there as i’m not sure how to close the app short of restarting the homescreen), but i think i might have found a sweet spot with these on my device.

So many little things!
When l’m using an app and want to know the time or battery status, I love “peeking” by swiping left just a little bit from the side, then swiping back to my app.
The changing grades of transparency are so elegant.

I enjoy that running/minimised applications are directly visible as a grid on the home screen, and that the terminal is not sandboxed.

Despite both big two do have translation in Slovene they still don’t have proper Slovenian keyboard layout. Every few years I search in andy shop but still fail to find it. I haven’t met a person who is complaining that some local letters (čšž) are hidden behind long tap. Many even write without that and IMO that is language butchering. SFOS is 100% translated AND it has proper layout. Which anybody can change.
Also SSH and proper root CLI.
I appreciate the freedom to mod a phone due to Linux.
Beautiful, intuitive gestures, no data siphoning and much more.
Long live SFOS.

And also a ‘silent’ phone… If you have ever ‘tried’, spent hours and days unticking settings hoping to stop all the crazy continuous background processes of an android phone, what a joy to have a phone that by default sleeps when nothing is open.

The “little” thing I enjoy most is having a working Linux distro with tons of familiar software on my phone:
- package management
- ssh access
- bash scripting
- systemd services
And it all works just like a Linux user would expect (this is not always the case for Android’s Linux bits).
Most tweaks even survive upgrades.
Ambiences are a close second: to get an instant “theme” from any beautiful background pic…

I was surprised/glad that they managed to get latest Mediatek 7100 5G, as typically SoC is almost EOL when these devices ship or some really low end one. From longer-term pov this was the best thing for the phone.
